but he didn't have a stroke.
he had an intercranial bleed from head trauma. Either he fell and banged his head as his wife said or she beat the shit out of him as the internet rumour mill says.

I've just moved house, and finally succumbed to watching television again for the first time in years. In the first 5 minutes of my virginal Freeview experience, I experienced both Webuyanycar.com's advert and the Go Compare monstrosity, I haven't turned my telly on since.

I knew buying a telly
and a license was a bad move. I mainly bought it to watch dvds. Think I'll unplug the ariel and stick to torrents and ip-tv from now on. Might have to rewatch Spaced on SeeSaw/4OD - and relive the time when telly was good.

it gets worse the more you have.
i got cable, after years of refusing. the quality of the channels that we used to watch seems to have diminished at the same time as exposing the sheer god awfulness of the rest of the cablesphere.
the record facility is good though. :)

on a flimsy moral stance against their slash and burn sporting policy, that ultimately heralded an era in football where it was seen to be appropriate to allow my football club to be franchised out to a different town because we weren't popular enough.
but to be honest, virgin aren't really any better. once an affordable and reliable freeview HD box comes out that i can record tv progs on like the virgin box, then i'm out of here.

I was in Tesco this afternoon
and while waiting for Mrs S to do whatever the fuck she was doing, I stood with a load of other blokes watching the last ten minutes of the Milwall/Swindon play-off making grunting noises along with the rest of them.
A few minutes later, Mrs S taps me on the shoulder and said 'Oh come on, you haven't got a clue what's going on with the football anyway'
I had to agree and sloped away
I could feel the pitying stares from behind

if you try to record too many things at the same time, it scans the programme guide and informs you that the same program is repeated later in the week or on a +1 channel later and do I want to record that instead!

Switching back and forth, as far as I could tell, would involving going into control panel every time.
That could get annoying every time I want to right click. I'll just dig out a mouse. I'm so used to using a touchpad though, I'm sure I won't be that good with one.
