Riot police in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo battle with other police officers who are on strike.
The confrontation happened when the striking officers tried to force their way past barriers to reach a building used by state governor Jose Serra.
Meanwhile the criminals are having a field day! :-)

A mate queued since 5.30am outside a ticketmaster outlet, he was the first one in and he was the only one there to get tickets....I now hate him

Ticketmaster when they put on the second date at the O2.
Tried earlier - got tickets allocated - system crashed - went back on and it had sold out!!
Cunts.
But I've got them now and I'm pathetically happy!!
(, Fri 17 Oct 2008, 11:50, Reply)
is that they are showing the dates as sold out but have a link to their "partner" site where you can still get tickets, but for £150!!

'High def' wmv version here: www.totalleh.com/video/nine_lives_video-c_kick.wmv
edit: I just uploaded it to Vimeo. I did not produce the video at HD (not even to widescreen, silly me),
so you'll have to do with PAL 4:3. Link: www.vimeo.com/1991828
edit (moan): I hate it when you work till late at night to get something done in time for the newsletter,
and then do not get mentioned :(

very well done.
I found that youtube messes up the synch of wmvs these days for some reason, quicktimes seem to work better.
(, Fri 17 Oct 2008, 10:48, Reply)
now if only Youtube starts introducing a 'replace video' in addition to their 'change audio' feature....
(, Fri 17 Oct 2008, 10:54, Reply)
Incidentally, I don't think synch problems are YouTube's fault, I think it's down to the flv video format which works through keyframes and changes rather than essentially compressing each frame (I believe mpg compression is just jpg on a frame-by-frame basis, but don't quote me...). That's why, for example, the scrub bar doesn't work very well with flv videos.

that's what i love about the technology age. students can go out, make utter cunts of themselves on taxpayers (and their parents) cash, finish studying, get their degree, then at the first interview:
"so jim, you got an 2-2 in bio-molecular studies?"
"Yep"
"and you once put a traffic cone on your head and some paper up your arse and proceeded to have the paper lit on fire whilst playing the american national anthem on a cazoo?"
"eeeeeeeeeeeerrr......."

yeah, i know canadian punk bands don't get a ton of press outside of our border, but anyone who was in the toronto/hamilton scene in the 70s and 80s would have seen a few teenage head gigs. i linked to a youtube video first to show the band, but their site, announcing his death is here
funny, we were chatting about the last pogo on /board earlier, and that got me thinking about the bands so i got the bad news while hunting down pics and mp3s. they had some great songs, unfortunately no super online repositories that i can uncrate at this late hour. 'disgusteen' was a staple of my teenage years, hear it if you can (and not the crappy youtube video that's up, it was made in 2007, ugh).
oh well, we're all mortal.

after i mentioned the last pogo i got out a couple of cds and went link wandering, then i got the news. if i'd known earlier i would have gone to the horseshoe tonight and seen what they had going on.

He looks remarkably like the landlord of an awesome pub I've started going to since coming to uni. It's called the Nowhere Inn and is full of aging punks.
(, Fri 17 Oct 2008, 7:56, Reply)
he was from hamilton, where i went to university. teenage head were regulars there and in toronto, and while they were just past their prime when i started seeing their shows, a ton of the bands i was very much into would open for them and had been inspired by them.
they come off a bit goofy here (and they were goofy), but thet were a lot more sinister and snarky in concert, especially in the earlier days - this video is pretty tame and the songs not the best (i do like let's shake, but it's a fun pop-punk song now). disgusteen would have been better exposure to them here, but there's no video about that i can see other than latter-day crap and i'm too tired to hunt any more.
night-night, i am definitely asleep now.
hey! i'm an aged punk, we're a decent breed.
