When's the actual date he went to in no.2? edit- ah 2015.. 5 years then back to the future parties!
( , Tue 6 Jul 2010, 1:45, Reply)

It is a little easy to check, no?
BTW, the day he leaves in the first film is Oct 26 1985. The first destination date was Nov 5 1955.
In the second film, they arrive in Oct 21 2015 at 4something in the morning.
In the end, he comes back on the 27 Oct 1985. But the film was released in 1990, so he actually ends up in the past.
( , Tue 6 Jul 2010, 11:26, Reply)

Much like 26th June 2010, that is another important date for you.
( , Tue 6 Jul 2010, 8:52, Reply)

The date the film was released was 4th July 1985 so you're late.
The date they went into the future was 21 Octobber 2015 so, again you're wrong.
There is no mention of 5th July in the film at all.
One more thing to be pedantic. Someone re watched the 1st film last night and says the date set on the time machine to go into the future (buit didn;t) were set to 26th October 2010

This video doesn;t do it justice if you ask me, needs more electric mentalists!
If you were there for the Sunday midnight show you'd have seen my mate up the cherry picker and me by the rails for the electric guys with a flash going off every 10 seconds!

Here's a list of the greatest video game enemies turned allies and the story of their unexpected friendships.
Donkey Kong/Mario, Master Chief/The Arbiter, Sonic/Knuckles.
It's crazy how often this happens in games.

About as mind blowing as a lot of short form sci-fi though. Which isn't to belittle either. And as with most good ideas someone like Arthur C Clarke will already have done it better.

Dig out any short story collection that has The 9 Billion Names of God in it.

I liked it. It's a shame that it's a fantastical and idealistic view of what happens.
If you take it less literally, and merely as a morality tale, I love it. If we are nice to each other, the human race can do anything.
( , Tue 6 Jul 2010, 0:49, Reply)

Who cares what life is like for any other animal. Man is not an animal it's the important one.
I agree with you that the concept of morality can be explained wonderfully using this, but if you think humans are not just another mammal and it's as important to have the Hitlers as it is the Mozarts then it misses the mark.

Short story: Kevin Smiths gets asked to make a documentary for Prince.
This is 35 or so minutes well spent. Many quotables. Explains a lot about how loony Prince is nowadays.
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
NSFW due to a few F bombs and the like.
It is particularly enlightening when you find out if Prince wears sneakers and where he gets his track suit from...
( , Mon 5 Jul 2010, 21:30, Reply)

If you like this video, there are HOURS of stories like this on his Evening With... DVDs. He's arguably a much better story teller than he is film-maker. His Bruce Willis story from his time on Die Hard 4 in particular is outstanding.

Prince is a weirdo.
Just saved you 35 tedious minutes. :)

anyway, I liked it. and I like prince too.
( , Mon 5 Jul 2010, 22:25, Reply)

Same Kevin Smith, slightly different story.
Short version - Despite fitting in a single seat and being able to buckle his seat-belt, he was thrown off a flight because the flight had over-booked and they needed to chuck someone off. Because he's a big guy, he was selected to be the one to go.
( , Mon 5 Jul 2010, 23:17, Reply)

and reinforced my belief that prince is as mad as a bag of spiders

( , Tue 6 Jul 2010, 13:04, Reply)

Obviously some of this is just natural ageing, but I think a lot of it is just his growing confidence of public speaking.

...I reckon if you were in a pub with him he'd sulk if you weren't all listening to his stories.

I saw him last night at Roskilde Festival and was expecting him to be an arrogant little gnome. He surprised me by actually looking as if he was enjoying himself.
I'm not the fan I used to be though, I was knocking about on b3ta when the whole cease and desist thing came to pass. I'm afraid he fell drastically in my opinion after that.
As for the 10 years out if date, I think you're probably right.

but I cant help getting down to Dirty Mind on my day off :-)
This is quite good, Kevin Smith talking about some time he spent with Prince. I'm on part two right now, but here is the first to keep you going.
