it's not proved too popular with the b3tans, but I still love it. I see where you're coming from on the scratchy film effect, but I think it might look kinda odd with something so clearly computer animated. The black and white works cos the mood is quite dark overall and the cinematic references are mostly from that era. Early Disney for character design, and Dr Caligari style sets (certainly the town at least). I also like that the frontman makes me think of a early disney-style Adam Buxton.
