a rather popular piece of bulletin-board software, has its own tags instead of HTML. [img] is one of them.

Reason: it makes it much easier to keep out dodgy people dicking around with Javascript etc if you allow absolutely no HTML. Or maybe the guys that created UBB were just shite ;-)
