I've been offered a Sony DCR-TRV140 for £260 ... does anyone who knows about these things think it's worth getting?

(, Thu 3 Apr 2003, 19:20, archived)

one that sony sell new is anout £350... flatmate works in the sony centre.

# *looks at the linky he provided*
erm, the model i've actually been offered is the DCR-TRV145 which is current and everywhere seems to sell it for about £280 online ... commet have got it for getting on for 400 notes though :-/

So i guess the price isn't bad, but does the camera suck?

# I've thrown mine about for over 3 years now
you've probably seen how I've treated it. Mine is a TVR110E though... I guess an older model.

# erm..
sorry luke, i can't say it was high on my list of priorities... :-)

Anyway, you know about these things... would I be wasting my cash?
(, Thu 3 Apr 2003, 19:26, archived)
# I spent about 700
on my camera years ago and it hasn't been a waste at all. I say get a camera. That is a good deal for a digital camera.

The digi8 and the minidv encoding is exactly the same format, same resolution. And you won't use any of the special features ever, except maybe the night shot, which is cool.

What really pay extra for is the lense and the ccd. The cheapest minidv is 3 or 4 times that price and the lense and ccd are actually not as good. (I use a camera at work with an 8,000 pound lense... cool, eh?)

So get it.
