This is a normal post What difference exactly would it make to the number of accidents?
Do you really think people have more accidents because they’re not wearing a belt? Or is it that those that do have accidents have worse outcomes if they’re not wearing a belt? It’s not the same thing. Your interlocutor’s statement isn’t as stupid as you think.
(, Sat 3 Dec 2022, 17:23, Reply)

But something about the legislative system that won’t outlaw people’s stupidity and blatant disregard for their own self preservation appeals to me. We are fine with all kinds of idiots believing all kind of bullshit like religion, so, if someone believes it’s a good idea not to wear one, leave them to it. Compared to what billions of religious people think, it really isn’t so nuts.

This is a normal post Totally with you.
However, I suspect that one of the reasons that they're mandatory is due to the risk posed to third parties by unbelted passengers/drivers during collisions.
'Victim ejected from vehicle' is a very real thing, and when your car decelerates from 40mph to 0mph in the blink of an eye, the fleshy sacks of blood and bone don't - and won't until something impedes their trajectory.
The chances of actually going through the windscreen of a car made after 1990 are pretty slim, but you're a lot more likely to inflict serious injuries on whoever is in the car with you should you choose to travel unrestrained.
I won't link it here, but there's a video showing a car rolling after a colission and literally flinging an occupant out of a side window a good 15-20 feet in the air. They should probably show that to the anti-belt fuckwits.

(, Sat 3 Dec 2022, 14:12, Reply)
This is a normal post My only issue with numberplates really is how they'd be implemented.
Having a great big square acting as an airbrake isn't so much of an issue when you've got an engine propelling you forwards (and arguably not really an issue for the trundlers popping along to the local supermarket), but it'd be an absolute nightmare if you're commuting 20+ miles a day and trying to maintain speeds northwards of 14mph. Can't imagine the club cyclists would be overly fond of the idea, either.
If they could introduce some method that doesn't overly fuck with aerodynamics, I'd totally support the idea, though.

cycling on the pavement carries a £500 fine, and 'cycling furiously' on the pavement carries a £1000 fine? Cyclists are also required to have lights on at night, and to obey all traffic signs and lights on the road.

Actually, can't be arsed because I'd have to explain Orders of magnitude first and then basic arithmetic's.

1600kg of car with a fatty driving needs mucha more powa to go to 20mph than 80kg of cyclist going through red lights..
(, Sun 4 Dec 2022, 15:45, Reply)
This is a normal post By 'power unit for driving the car', I meant the driver itself.
Not the 'power unit for propelling the car', which would be the engine.
The point I was making is that the morbidly obese fart machine behind the wheel probably emits just as much CO2 through the physical act of driving a car as a relatively fit person would emit cycling a bike at a moderate pace.

I'm glad you didn't waste all that time mansplaining, though.
(, Sun 4 Dec 2022, 20:57, Reply)

Simply being alive at the moment burns dinosaur juice, washing your hair with most shampoos, eating vegetarian food that is fed with oil derived fertiliser, having the lights on in your house etc

Because of this, the power unit for the cycle also burns some dinosaur juice to keep it working. Nowhere near as much of course, but some. No matter how 'green' you are.

Sure, some people grow their own food organically etc and so don't contribute much at all, but then some cars run off solar power. I suspect a similar proportion of the larger number for each.

This is a normal post So someone develops and releases an experimental product while claiming without evidence that it will save lives.
Side effects of seatbelt wearing include whiplash/spinal injury and increased chances of being trapped unconscious inside your vehicle. Without a belt, in the event of a collision you will be ejected to safety well before your car burns. The three-point seatbelt is clearly designed to resemble a harness. Wearers are willingly surrendering their freedoms and shackling themselves up like a beast of burden to go about the State’s business. Really it’s all about Control, and getting the population to mindlessly obey and not question the rules. Wake up and tell the government you know what they’re REALLY up to! The Facts about how literally thousands of people are killed Every Day by their restraining straps are being suppressed by Big Belt. Seatbelts cause autism.

This is a normal post Sometime ago, I had to void my bowels urgently when I was being transported but I was restricted by this liberal lasso
the seatbelt. Unfortunately, I couldn't unclip the buckle quick enough and flooded the backseat of my uber driver's car with a chaotic and fluid evacuation from my rectum with a stench that can only be described as rotten eggs and burning electric combined. As I freed myself, the driver was already free from the car vomiting over the bridge we had pulled over on. I apologized and said I will give him a five star rating. After wiping away the puke from his mouth, he put his hand up and told me to keep fighting the power. To this day, I will never wear a fascistic clip (seatbelt) again.

This is a normal post I always thought
the homeopathic seatbelt was like a regular seatbelt, but was so diluted that to any rational examiner it looks and acts just like the image of a seatbelt printed onto your shirt.

Either that or you get the cause of death in a car accident (the other car) then place that in pure water for a while until the water gains a memory imprint of the other car, then you take 2 drops of that water before driving.

Therefore, because some water has touched some cars before continuing its way on the water cycle, all water is now incredibly potent counter-car medicine. However, as more water touches more cars over time, the potency of the anti-car power of water is constantly diminishing.

a person might have a peer group where because they've made several faux pas, they're scared of interacting with again. They might not value the social interaction, because they find it dull and would prefer to be doing something else. both these things might depend on their peer group, their alternatives, and how they're feeling when they make the decision, and a whole bunch of other conditional changeable factors.
TLDR: Behaviour is complex, labels aren't

This is a normal post I think self identifying as something seems to hold a lot of attraction,
because it neatly absolves people for their personal behaviour and decisions by claiming it's caused by some dubious self diagnosed condition. Maybe someone has some learning difficulty like ASD that makes interaction dfficult. But maybe someone never bother to cultivate a personality, lacks empathy or interest in other people or is cruel, and when they socialised they find nobody likes them, so they stop going out and start claiming, "oh I must be an introvert" because it makes them feel better, it's just their nature. And if you think that's a rant, don't get me started on kids getting diagnosed with ADHD

2. Looks like some really amateur compositing at about 1:57. Hope the video editor didn't have hand in making the lethal deathbots...
