Anyone else remember this lot? One of the original and best tunes from the glorious Indie years :D

I haven't heard them forever - "Homeboy" off the Against Perfection album was one of the best songs ever.

In which case it is one of the best things ever

I'm sure I can spot the bride readying her dive before the best man's close to her.
& i've watched enough bad american TV to know a fake "oh my gawd" when I hear one.
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 22:09, Reply)
Not sure she does move till his head touches her. Possibly fake but seems alot of setting up and people dressing up in expensive clothes for something like this.
(, Thu 9 Oct 2008, 1:04, Reply)
The only thing for me that screams setup though (apart from the pratfall) is the fact that the 'altar' is precariously set up over the pool in the first place. Very suspicious.

My friend Sherlock, with whom I share a skull says: listen to the audio, where does the wind noise go, and why are we more enclosed than when previously outdoors at the point of slip and comments? Or is it just me?
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 23:13, Reply)
everyone's too audible, like they're dubbed or wearing collar mics or something. But then I don't know really.
(, Thu 9 Oct 2008, 3:16, Reply)
Im sure we have all seen it but I think we could all do with a good chortle seeing as were all doooomed by the economy, etc, etc.

Wonderfully creepy music and most kickass awesome video I've seen in a while. I could watch a featurelength version of this. God I love stop motion. God I love John Carpenter's Thing.

My friend sent me this. It's meant to be a cute little plush cinnamon bun, but I thought it looked more like a poo with jizz all over it. What do you think?
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 20:25, Reply)
and you expect us to believe you've never seen a poo with jizz on it? Tsk...kids these days!

Ugly kids in shitty costumes, made by 'maaawms.'
Nothing spectacular, but they really are all awful costumes.
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 20:10, Reply)
Why do Americans dress up in ANY costumes on Halloween? I thought Halloween was meant to be scary.
The kid in photo 5 looks like a giant turd.
Im a miserable bastard
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 20:36, Reply)
it's because kids like to dress up in all kinds of stuff and are more concerned with having fun than sticking to any specific rules about dress codes for specific holidays.

I'm currently working on a music video for a contest from the band Zuco103.
I started this because I could finally mess around with some good green-screen footage (which the band supplies for the contest) and after effects.
So the idea is that each verse/chorus/bridge in the song gets its own page, and I thought I might ask for comments early on in the process, to get some pointers here and there.
For the complete song have a listen at their myspace site.
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 19:17, Reply)
I would work on the band members' comic book effect, right now it seems to ignore some important line details and really screams of pre-made filter.
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 20:13, Reply)
Working on that: Didn't go wild on that yet, but I will try to get the dot-print look in the end (if I'm able to pull it off).
Thanks.
Also got some comments on how I'd be better of making the speech balloons more dynamic: So also working on that.
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 20:33, Reply)
You need to define the lines much more in the face and outlines. Perhaps try rotoscoping as right now it really does just look like a pre-madefilter thrown on top.
It's a brilliant idea, and looks good bar the band members.
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 20:36, Reply)
Makes sense.
Real rotoscoping by hand would be way too much work (the deadline is the 20th of October), but I'll definitely try to tweak my current plugin a bit more, and maybe flatten the overall image after that's done, so the colors become more constant (and this the faces/outlines would be more clear).
Thanks.
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 21:16, Reply)
it always helps to have a narrative of some description, a story arc, some reason why they are there being what they are, and as this is being represented as a comic strip, this would seem odd to me if there wasn't one.
A little tricky when using pre recorded green screen I'm sure, but maybe you can add some of your own characters? Like something going on in the background or around them? Laser fights and robots or something, y'know, draw some spaceships in pop art style and have a battle going on, some pew pew pew, that kinda thing.
Just a thought.

that's quite a collection and some hardcore dedication, but I'm not moved to tears for his bemoaning the demise of vinyl. He may have overlooked that the rest of us have all moved on, and that's simply untrue what he harps on about digital music being inferior in quality; as soon as that needle is on the plastic it's picking up distortion; and that is said as a former vinyl junkie.
I'm quite glad the days of me having to fork out a small fortune for rare music are over, when music is a simple download away, with even CD's being much cheaper given the record companies have been brought to account by the internet, and mysteriously now selling new releases at half the price they did in the nineties. Weird that, eh?
Times are much better now :)
Nice video though, cool link
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 19:37, Reply)
but I still like vinyl, mostly because of the charm it has putting it on and having to turn it. Also the fact that used records usually costs around one quid at yard sales and fleamarkets:) found some Kiss the other day, which made me smile
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 20:03, Reply)
I have mixed memories about vinyl; sure there was a certain thrill to hunting down the rare stuff and the joy of finding it, but I don't miss then having to part with huge wads of cash like the £60 on an Ed Lincoln LP, (***I HAVE JUST DOWNLOADED FOR FREE BECAUSE A CERTAIN B3TARD IS SO COOL***) the £75 on a Stone Alliance LP for one track (Sweetie Pie) off the top of my head, and christ knows how much more I paid on Trio Mocoto LPs. And I don't miss the space a huge LP collection takes in your flat or home! I had to plan a living room around mine once, which was when I started to realize it was all getting a little ridiculous
These days it simply seems more convenient to spend five minutes surfing the net for the obscure stuff, if you know where to go; it's generally out there somewhere, if you can't buy it on a CD, and obviously easier to store
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 20:41, Reply)
but the guys i know who have spent the last 20 years hunting down that rare peddlers 45 get REALLY pissed off when i play it from my ipod.
still... stone alliance on vinyl. i'm jealous as fuck.
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 20:47, Reply)
because a stupid bint helping me to move stuff to a cab left it on the staircase
that, Sir, is when I finally gave up on vinyl :(
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 20:54, Reply)
I'm not into rarities. It's when I stumble over something I think is cool that I pick it up. I understand why one would collect rare LP's, but my finances at the moment aren't impressive *cough - student*, so I'll leave it at fleamarkets
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 21:42, Reply)
This took twenty years to track down, fruitlessly on vinyl; finally on the internet for free; given it's not on CD; the artist's loss, I am not prepared to wait another twenty years growing old for it to be released
hence why I love the internet
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 22:17, Reply)
but sadly most digital files out there are actually just 128kbps mp3 files, which really don't sound great. vinyl, however, is a wonderfully tactile medium whereby you can really read the music on the disc (so mixing is a joy, as opposed to a hassle), and i am lamenting the loss of my decks right now.
