Should have taken note. 30 second ad was annoying and the vid wasn't as good as the top one.

I'd love to see this opera. I saw Nico Muhly live when he was at ATP a while back. Fantastic stuff. There was an event to promote this that had Will Self talking about whether the internet was inherently psychotic.

So the new Twilight trailer has been released. Here's an entirely reasonable reaction
She really likes Twilight I guess. But jeepers.
Also: possibly the worst trailer ever.

See?
Whenever a female friend tries to tell me how unreasonable men are, this is the kind of thing I point out. No man has ever screamed at the existence of a movie, or cried their eyes out when a band broke up.
I am a huge fan of The Beatles, and I would have LOVED to be alive when they were together, but on finding out they were going to stop performing, I would have said "Oh, fuck" and got on with my life.

Indeed, now the dilemma begins...
You could delete or edit the post that would stop the trouble.
But you would then incur further wrath for doing so.
Best thing I can think of is replace the picture with something pleasing. Maybe with one of a kitten. But then you would incur the wrath of the anti feline crowed here...

Wondering why internet ads seem to be getting smarter?
Well a site you visited dumped a steaming cookie on your system flagging you as someone that likes that type of thing and what a good idea it would be if you were reminded of it on every fucking web page you go to.
Dumb those ads down again with this link.
Got tired of being constantly asked if I want to buy another ladder just because I visited a ladder selling site once...

I just liked
The sheriff saying they took it seriously because the bodies of children were involved. To investigate a murder based on the claims of a psychic would be madness, but the murder of children, thats different.

In a similar vain, it annoys me when reports say things like "people were killed... *including women and children*".
So if just Men were involved nobody would care?

Being a psychic should carry a prison sentence.
No-one would go to prison, because you couldn't prove they were psychic. But it might stop people claiming to be.

Actually not long.
When I saw the still it got into my head, but somehow when it cuts off like that it drifts off pretty quickly. Sorry.

Just a short while because
thinking of catchy songs made me think of this:
youtu.be/kbbA9BhCTko
which pretty much emptied Final Countdown from my head completely. For that reason, I don't suggest clicking ^that^ until you've finished the experiment.
Sorry.

heres a suggestion....
when you cut the music off...why dont you animate circles on the screen to visualize the track a bit...then maybe the people brains will see the images connect them to the last audio they heard etc....
when you see a picture of mcbain and then start reading in his voice its the audio-visual association prompting recall... like guns...they go bang... remember guns!
more so than just your written instruction...
maybe just a numerical count down?

They just do not know how to balloon.
They use the heat when they are about to crash, it is like watching children sail, over compensating at every turn.
"I'm going to do what he says because he's in control of the fire".
I love hot air ballooning mind.

It's the engineer guy, I truly "less than 3" him. A complex idea explained in a straight forward manner.

I loved his LCD monitor break down which got posted here a while back and would encourage anyone else who hasn't seen it yet to do so!

I like the info bar pice which asks...
'Would you like to translate the captions?'
Yes, please, English would be good for me as I've got no technical savvy at all.
Very fine video though, thanx.

This is a pretty good video
However I am disappointed in his explanation he gives of the read head. Read heads haven't consisted of coils of wire for some time as they suffer from issues such as a low signal to noise ratio and different response magnitudes depending on where the head is radially on the disk. Most hard drives now use some form of spin valve which does not rely on Faradays law of induction.

Then again he did say it consisted of a coil of wire "at its simplest" so I'll let him off.
