Woo yes I love Christopher Lee he's a brilliant man
and long overlooked for this.
"Arise, Sir Dracula!"
EdiT: Totally agree with him about modern horror movies nothing is left to the imagination now and therefore leaves the viewer detatched from the movie.

well said,
I feel old these days, as I often don't have the stomach for the really gratuitous stuff. - Blood and gore is best left to the imagination
/this being said, I did rather enjoy the 'reimagining' of Halloween a couple of years back, even though I went into it wanting to hate it for spitting on the memory of my fave horror film of all time.

Yes the Rob Zombie remakes are rather good
but that's because he hasn't gone full gore and stays somehwat truer to the original. I'd really like to see the sequal but we don't go to the movies due to James being a smoker - so will wait for the DVD.

that's what I did :)
not overly keen on seeing horror films at the cinema anyway ,as it tends to be filled with far too many kids pratting about or texting.
Looking forward to the sequel as well, looks like it's following a similar storyline to the first sequel, following straight on from the first film, so could be good.
Speaking of horror 'reimaginings' steer WELL clear of the recent Friday 13th remake - absolutely dreadful. Still undecided by the trailer for the new nightmare of elm street series as well..

I believe in the second it touches nicely upon the idea
that Michael Myers is somehow possessed and supernatural yet doesn't go down the road of playing too heavy on that else it becomes too abstract and not social-real enough if you understand what I mean.
Edit: Yes I would imagine anything to do with Friday the 13th after that damn shit awful Sci-Fi one (was it Jason X?)in the series would be a pile of rotting crap!
(maidenis filmed before a live studio audience,

certainly do, it's more akin to the old series (the early ones) and I like that
I think I preferred Myers over any other 'horror killer' as there was nothing about him consistent, no real 'signature' - which made it far more creepy.
(The Great Architectis still waiting for his account to be deleted on,

Well where the original really won over the competition
was that Micheal Myers was evil to start with and there was no explanation why, and he was human and not some zombie/reincarnate so therefore you had the feeling that perhaps out in the real world there was a real Michael Myers and that really made it scary. Friday the 13th was just nonsense, the killer in the first movie was his Mum you only see Jason right at the end - damn stupid if you ask me.

aye, and totally with you on the explanation of myers introduction.

It certainly is my favourite I hope it's on this Halloween
I love getting some snacks in, some booze turning all the lights off and having a scarefest - this is my kind of fun!
What I also like to watch this time of year is The Thing - Halloween and The Thing would be my kind of night.

oh, they'll try!
what's scarier is the treatment/premise for a prequel to The Thing (from Wiki):
"In early 2009, Variety and Bloody-Disgusting reported the launch of a project to film a prequel—possibly following MacReady's brother during the events leading up to the opening moments of the 1982 film— with Matthijs van Heijningen as director and Ronald D. Moore as writer. In March 2009, Moore described his script as a "companion piece" to Carpenter's film and "not a remake." "We're telling the story of the Norwegian camp that found the Thing before the Kurt Russell group did," he said."
"MacReady's brother"?!?!?

I got really into doing these and pretty good at them at one point, if I say so meself, but got sick of all the moaning minnies complainin I was posting stuff that they couldn't make work.
are we doing them the same way? creating slices at different depths?
I was hoping to do an after effects movement but lack the software, thought Blender might be able to help but I couldn't figure out how.

Yeh I just divide one pic up into sections and move em left and right basically,
I got a bit clever in later ones tho and made the discovery that warps and distorts can make stuff pass forward and back thru the levels as seen most clearly on the Alien's tail and head and the lightsabres on the Star Wars one, also some clever use of liquify can make a face or globe look true 3D as used on the Deathstar: www.b3tards.com/u/420c52b7900bd7084f02/3d-moon.jpg and www.b3tards.com/u/420c52b7900bd7084f02/3d-linda.jpg altho the hair on that needed more work IMO, looks flat...
*edit* BTW I'm aware of the fuck-up on the aliens right upper arm, I think a layer slipped just before saving, one day I should get around to correcting that I guess as otherwise that one works really well I think, I just love how well the tail works.
And as for the programme, for it's time it was a slick bit of work.

MEHDEH YVIE
I was watching the Halloween Most Haunted thing
god it's bollocks - I've been watching it on and off since it started, and all they've ever found was some bits of dust and something going bump in the night
Funny story which you reminded me of; an elderly woman I spoke to once in the office had problems with her phone line. Unfortunately she had a Lifeline panic button service and because her phone line was dead, the Police thought she was dead also. They turned up on a thursday night to check on her, but she was not answering her doorbell and knockings from the officers. So they smashed her front door in and found her with the TV on loud....watching the Bill. Must've pressed interactive or something...

I would love to shove all those touch and fresh down his throat!
what really gets me at the moment, is a sponsorship advert for Currys or something... I think it's usually on Sky1...
anyway, it's some woman putting a large appliance it the boot of the car, slams down the boot and it smashes through the rear windscreen... Makes me wince every time...

Why else would people watch adverts unless they have entertainment value?
Traditionally, advert breaks are kettle and toilet breaks.

Fancy a couple of free audio book thingies that I've made for Halloween?
I've written a couple of short stories and rrecorded them as audio books. They're free to download, but you do have to register in my shop to get them (though you can type in any old nonsense into the form if you want).
A Kiss on the Palm
A man wakes at the wheel of his car, driving at 90 miles per hour down the motorway at night. He only has one clue to the events of the evening, and from that, the horrifying memories begin to return.

Spooky more than scary, I'd say.
There are a couple of paid-for downloads in my shop, one of which is a bit more of a scary story ('Status Update') and the other one is just a bit silly ('Fresh Salmon for McTavish').
EDIT: and happy candle day too :)

I'm hoping to become a full-time writer/novelist eventually, but it's very hard getting an agent for my novel, so I thought it might make my life easier if I could say 'I've had 2000 people download my stories'. Admittedly it's only been a few dozen so far, but I have only just put them online!
