Having lived in France and England, France definitely wins.
But then I would say that, I'm Scottish :)

They have much better food and drink than us, nicer countryside, longer lunchbreaks and mountains to go skiing on.

There are a few demoscene groups still making Speccy demos, and the Amstrad Em@iler plus comes with speccy games.
The speccy had a certain low-tech charm, I suppose, and some nice games.
I won't say anything about its relative inferiority compared to other machines of the era, though :)
