is the kernel recognizing it as a usb device?
( ,

it doesn't even register its existence
i'm in windows now (in which it does work) but if i switch over to linux it doesn't seem to detect it

righto
what you have to see first if linux registers it as a usb device.
so this by checking the kernel messages: running dmesg
and then if its detected you know your usb drivers are fucked. :)

As I understand it ...
... it's all down to some dodgy additive which used to be put into dog food. The UK has banned it but I guess other countries still use it.
I'm sure the internet knows best though.
EDIT: So far the internet thinks that it had something to do with bone-meal in dog food (not so 'dodgy' really).

Mozilla shares most of the same codebase as netscape
but looks and feels a lot nicer IMO.
IIRC they are not quite the same thing.
I use Mozilla or Konqueror (KDE) - which just says that it's a bad image.
