# I was wondering about reposting
some people gave me a hard time cos I posted a pic once in the evening then again the following morning and nearly all the same people cmplained that means you must get people who spend thier entire time on this site! I just come here a few times a day and have a quick scroll down but people get really angry about it, I think its a bit petty
(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 10:56, archived)
# i do too
now get lost u pearoaster

(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 10:57, archived)
# you need to be more considerate for other though. Reposting in a new thread isn't good.
(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 10:58, archived)
# if you delete the old offending thread who cares???
and I was only reposting because some people said they couldnt see the image just a photobucket sign
(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 10:59, archived)
# erm, people obviously 'care' as they wouldnt keep having a go at you for reposting!
And the fact you get arsey about it just shows that you don't give a shit about actually being a part of b3ta.
(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 11:01, archived)
# I do care I just get a bit baffled and put down
:(
(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 11:02, archived)
# Yeah, it's this more than anything.
I might personally think it's a bit fucking stupid that I have to take my shoes off in those Chinese paper houses or whatever, but I'd still do it if they wanted me to (and I wanted to be liked by them) so that I wasn't just being a selfish cunt and ignoring their quirky rules.
(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 11:04, archived)
# There seems to be an entire set of rules that not everyone gets straight away
it can be confusing
(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 11:06, archived)
# it's really not hard - the 2 main rules are
1. make your pics around 50kb
2. Don't repost in a new thread (for whatever reason, unless its perhaps suitable for a new compo)

it really is that simple.
(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 11:07, archived)
# I can appreciate that
but that's why we have an FAQ to read before you start posting. :)
(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 11:08, archived)
# choad
Hello new person. Please read our FAQ. Cheers.
(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 11:19, archived)
# yeah, you deserve complaints
you've reposted one image at least 3 times in the past.
if no one likes (or comments on) the image the first time, then just assume that its not that popular. and if you really wanna repost it just stick it in an existing thread, really its not that bloody hard.
what really bugs me is people complaining about being flamed for pearoasting, cos it obviously shows you havent really read or understood the FAQ, which is second only to the bible in its importance

/boredatworkrant

edit: haha i just went through all of your previous posts to get an example of your blatant ham-touchery and i've noticed that all your previous efforts have exceeded their bandwidth. this makes me happy and means less chuffin pearoasting from you in future
(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 11:08, archived)
# it makes teh kittin cry
(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 11:00, archived)
# The only reason people get angry
is because every time a new thread is made, someones work gets pushed off the board. Fair enough if it's a new picture. If you want people to see your pictures again then post it in an existing thread.

(But don't forget to woo the thread you're reposting in)
(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 11:00, archived)
# what cocking difference does it make anyway
new thread old thread ..?? pah - if there is a good reason id be happy to be educated

# because the board only allows 15 new posts to be on the page at once.
If its reposted in a new thread, it is pushing an exisintg thread off the bottom, whereas if it's reposted in an existing thread, it will not push anything off the bottom (just make the page a bit longer)
(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 11:03, archived)
# but if delete the old thread its still the same
amount of pics on the board
(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 11:04, archived)
# yes, but it's not fair on others
imagine if people kept deleting their pics and posting them again just so they were at the top of the board... it would get pretty shit very quickly.
(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 11:06, archived)
# yaeh but I that was not my intention
just wanted people to see the pic!
(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 11:07, archived)
# you could have edited the original thread!
(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 11:08, archived)
# or just wait till the board is busier to post it in the first
place, rather than postin it stupidly late at night, then wonderin why you get little or no responses
(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 11:22, archived)
# That's fair enough mate.
Just wait until a thread is started that has something to do with the pic you've made (even if it's a pretty tenuous link! :) ) and repost it in that thread. People will still comment on it if they like it. :)
(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 11:10, archived)
# Why not just not do it?
It's easier than having these huge debates, and, not to sound harsh, the rules were here before any of us, so we just stick to 'em.

I guess it doesn't matter so much at 2am when the boards quiet, but during the day when it's busy it's a bit annoying to get pushed off by something everyones already seen.

# ahaaaaaa

For you it was evening and morning. For others, it was morning and evening of the same working day, perhaps they only spend 30 minutes at the start and end of their working day, but since you were on at the same times as them, it's a bit hypocritical to criticise.

And then some people put the RSS feed on their desktop :-)

Starting a new thread with a weak post of any kind is discouraged, since it knocks another thread off the end of the board. That applies to reposts, unfunny links, non-pic posts, whatever... anything that just doesn't merit its own thread. Reposting as a reply is a lot more tolerated.

# Larch cones are erect, small, 1-9 cm long,
green or purple, ripening brown 5-8 months after pollination; in about half the species the bract scales are long and visible, and in the others, short and hidden between the seed scales. Those native to northern regions have small cones (1-3 cm) with short bracts, with more southerly species tending to have longer cones (3-9 cm), often with exserted bracts, with the longest cones and bracts produced by the southernmost species, in the Himalaya.

# via Olfaction,
the sense of odor (smell), is the detection of chemicals dissolved in air (or in water, by animals that live under water). In vertebrates smells are sensed by the olfactory epithelium located in the nasal cavity and first processed by the olfactory bulb in the olfactory system. In insects smells are sensed by sensilia located on the antenna and first processed by the antennal lobe.

The larva, or maggot, is the main feeding stage of the fly. On hatching, first-instar larvae are roughly 2 mm long, growing to about 5 mm before shedding their skin. The second instar larvae grow to around 10 mm before they shed their skins to become third-instar larvae. Third-instar larvae grow to between 15 mm and 20 mm before wandering off as pre-pupae.
