Totally.
My mother in law used to run a care home for Alzheimer's patients. With a decent standard of care and an informed approach to medication (i.e. don't just smack 'em off their eyes from dawn till dusk), patients can enjoy a really good quality of life.
I know Sir Terry's deeply worried about the deterioration of his faculties, and at the end of the day it's his call, but sad as you say, to think that he feels death is preferable :o(

He'd make a splendid Dr Who although he'd have to have each and every episode where
he uses his iPad, iPhone, iTouch and iPod and such to get out of any tricky situations. Also he would have to have a massive Twitter Flounce half way through for dramatic effect darlin' and the TARDIS would be transformed into a London Cab.

Yaphet Kotto was then seconded by 'Eduard Khil's Haircut', who added Beverly D'Angelo in her Lampoon vacation shower pose? (Having spent hours researching images and video of this shower pose, I was unable to find a source image that was not too steamy) Finally, 'RedHouse' said "Virginie Ledoyen for my vote!"

Well I have 2 days off
so I'm going to get back to playing if my dog will allow me some "me time" that is. I suppose she gets bored very quickly but I'm bloody knackered after working a week of 3am mornings then a week of lates but she's just a dog and doesn't understand that I need some time to relax. I miss James so much he would play with the dog while I worked on the computer, I feel now I have no time for fun :(
L21!? Zoinks!! I've only just started and I'm still just hovering between level2 and 3 if I could only managed to get past those damn zombie things in that Barrow place. I kill the Spider easy enough and free then instant kill the thief and take the Golden Claw but then I have to work through all those zombies and eventually they wear my health down to zero - I'll crack it but it's a real timesink

My newspaper (founded 1869) is ceasing to exist. The last edition is this Friday. Redundancies are gunna take place. Almost certainly including me. So the career is over, and it looks like I've wasted my 30s. Damn right I'm fulla self-pity! And my leg still sodding hurts.
A bit less shit is probably a bit OK, I s'pose. Pissed out my face listening to Spacemen 3 at the minute. Dunno what else to do. Well, I do know, but I don't know anyone who'll sell me the necessary illegal drugez.

I think I agree:
because I suddenly live in the middle of nowhere, I have to cycle 5 miles to work. I wouldn't normally be inclined to deliberately do much to stay fit, but I certainly feel loads better after 7 months of enforced exercise.
But I'd rather die than get any exercise. I don't even give a flying one about my mental wellbeing any more, cos I'm dosed up to the tits on antidepressants and it makes sod-all difference.
i understand how it feels when someone offers advice. all i can say is i've also been on anti depressants, and beyond. it has taken a long time, but i am now in a place where i think the worst of it is behind me.
btw, if the anti depressants aren't helping, they may not be the right ones for you.

My brother's paper was bought out and closed without notice, replaced by a free Metro edition. Fortunately he was well known around town after 18 years of his name in print as a reporter and editor, and picked up a new job in PR pretty quickly. I hope there's a package for you in the deal?

Ta.
There'll be a modest redundancy sum, yeah. Enough for a laptop (typing this on company property - maybe they'll let me keep it) and a phone, and a coupla months' breathing room. No PR for me, though. 'Tis the devil's own work as far as I'm concerned.
I think it might be time to make the signup process a little harder.
