It was the training one for the Aus ski team and it put me out over a lake rather than having to land it, which is the hardest skill. I shit myself the first run down nonetheless, particularly after I witnessed a guy come off on the way down before the ramp and injure himself quite badly. after a few jumps, it gets easier

My sixth film in my 52 films/1 year project is in honor of Valentine's Day. I'm not really sure if you would say this is NSFW. There's fake blood, but it's not really graphic... at least, I don't think so... But some of you have already told me I need to seek help, so who am I to decide?
( , Sat 12 Feb 2011, 19:10, Reply)

the blood is too watery, and the heart, knife thing is a bit obligutary.
You should have used a sheeps heart..
no offense.
( , Sat 12 Feb 2011, 20:38, Reply)

I'm vegan, so we made the heart- and we made it with what supplies I already had available to me without going out to buy new stuff and taking up more time than I had allotted.
As for the blood, thanks for the tip, but due to technical and time constraints, we had to use faucet water to fill up the balloon that is inside the prosthetic to get the effect. It's a mix between water and a cornstarch blood recipe.
Also, I know it's been done a thousand times- but what hasn't?
( , Sat 12 Feb 2011, 21:01, Reply)

but then again, not many people can do that on your budget either.
Also, Isn't ketchup suitable for vegans? That and a bit of water should have made it runny enough but thick enough to look like blood. I don't know anyone who doesn't keep ketchup around :)
( , Sun 13 Feb 2011, 11:46, Reply)

But I think ketchup has more of an orangey coloration when it's diluted. I also think that when you add water to ketchup, ketchup doesn't stay thick or thicken it up. If anything, I would have needed Caro syrup, which I didn't have. I usually make syrupy blood, but my SFX kit has been low on supplies (same with my kitchen) for some time and I haven't had the money to stock it.
Also, ketchup gives me hives. Once while making a short film for school, I had to fit myself in a dryer while covered in ketchup to act as blood (because it was black and white 16 mm film and we didn't have chocolate) and I discovered that my skin is allergic to it. So after that, I don't really use ketchup regardless if I am in the film or not... And I'm not sure I had any.

My guess is they used a laser pen and removed it in post production. Oh, and spent a HUGE amount of time animating the character. That's dead neat that is.
*clicks*
( , Sat 12 Feb 2011, 18:07, Reply)

given the time it must have taken to animate it, you have to wonder if it would have been almost as quick to invent a shrinking machine so they could have used a real man in a pink suit.
Could always put him in a tiny spaceship afterwards and inject him into the buttocks of a hypochondriac supermarket shop assistant, who could then enlist the help of a journalist, and together they could thwart the advances of a Russian technology-stealing cowboy and an inept bunch of 50% shrunken mobsters.
