I've a bit of experience with electric fences, and that's genuine.
Funnier than that vid was a time when my brother gathered a lot of speed down a wet grassy hillside, hit an electric fence that pulled the poles out of the ground. As he fell he rolled he became wrapped up in the fence and couldn't escape. We had to find the battery supply about 200 yards away to disconnect it. Meanwhile he suffered considerably bigger shocks than those nancies.

But where are the insulators with the fence posts?
(A wet wooden fence post would just short the whole thing out.
And why the fuck did he try to put his bike over a wire fence, rather than the gate or wooden fence right next to it (in my experience of chucking a non-fat-tyred bike over styles and fences, you appreciate being able to stand on a stable structure and place the bike directly on the ground).

10,000 volts is the maximum allowed under international agreements apparently, but only 120 mA
They are usually pulsed (presumably to allow capacitors to charge and discharge), and I can vouch for the belt they give you.
Have a look on YouTube for a few people getting zapped. In my experience if you properly grab the wire then you get a good unpleasant wallop, but it's perfectly manageable.

No, this is how politics is done now.
Rather than make a passionate speech about values you believe in and will stick doggedly to, you leak your speech and watch the public reaction. If it's a howler you deny the content of the speech and make a u-turn without losing face.

I think you're probably right, he is. Except he's too stuck in his "the people will flock to the left in a crisis" blinkered outlook to realise, that come a crash/crisis, these days, they're more likely to flock to Aaron Banks "New England" party (when its formed), the result of which will be him up against a wall and shot for being incredibly dreary.
He's utterly useless. He couldn't find his way out of a wembley-sized paper bag, even if there were arrows pointing the way out, loudspeakers telling him where to go, and those kind of Olympic-volunteers guiding him. He'd seek a consensus from all working people in the bag following a workers collective meeting. By which point everyone trying to help him would have got so fed up they'd have left, leaving him stuck in the bag.

When you pretend the stunt has danger, or if it actually does then you've crossed the line from entertainment into charlatanism.
And Blaine is a bit of a twunt anyway so there's that.

It's what I like to quote around the office once clients start to change the brief midway through the project! Still it may inform a view of the Cadillac being a relative success considering the abortion the customer originally wanted.

Maybe, but what does "raising awareness" achieve unless action is actually taken?
What has a twitter hashtag campaign ever actually fixed or improved? How much did the ice bucket challenge do for ALS sufferers or research? What, in reality, does Movember do for cancer research or sufferers? Pretty much every twat I've come across that does that doesn't even get sponsored, they just do it for a laugh. #BringBackOurGirls did nothing to accelerate those hostages' release, in fact many have still not been returned. But at least a lot of westerners got to show that they cared. Big deal.

Ice bucket challenge raised $100m in 30 days
www.theguardian.com/society/2016/jul/26/ice-bucket-challenge-als-charity-gene-discovery
and Movember's raised over $600m over the years.

A campaign by middle-class American students to bring to justice a proper Heart of Darkness-style, heads-on-poles African jungle warlord complete with small but ultra-violent army.
When pushed on exactly how he was going to achieve this, the campaign organiser went on a naked wanking rampage through San Francisco, filmed by passers-by.
The warlord might be still hanging entire villages from trees but, as a method of raising awareness, a pavement wankathon meltdown has never been bettered.

Quite a lot. Certainly more than not doing anything at all.
You make a good point, there is a problem with charity saturation and the fact that sharing something on Facebook isn't the same as actually *doing* something, but Movember are very open about where the money goes. Try this link: https://uk.movember.com/report-cards
One of the big things they did was set up a database of research that allows far greater international collaboration on time-consuming research. There's a ton more. Recent years have seen them shift from focus on testicular/prostate to general male health (including things like disproportionately high suicide rates), helping people with depression and stuff. They do good work.
For ALS, they hadn't anticipated raising so much so quickly thanks to such overwhelming support. It was kind of a nice problem to have, but it was a genuine problem to work out how best to spend it - they have now been able to fund huge amounts more research than existed previously.
And awareness is important.
As for #BringBackOurGirls, well, I suppose one other thing it has achieved is highlighting that we don't have any influence over foreign policy and that there are things that good intentions can't fix.

Nope
virtue signalling is when people 'like' people doing good things. Or say 'look how terrible these bad people are, bad, bad'. Clicktavists are the saddest people in the world.
If they were actually doing good things no one would have a problem,
See also celebs loudly offering to fill their houses with syrian refugees then not doing it.
Or 'pledging' to give $1 billion to charridee and then not doing so.
