In the desert
I saw a creature, naked, bestial,
who, squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,
And ate of it.
I said, "Is it good, friend?"
"It is bitter - bitter," he answered;
"But I like it
Because it is bitter,
And because it is my heart."

i have several friends who feel that way about them too, but

far more eloquently than i can...
i personally consider tattoos to be art. as an art major and
whatnot, i find the idea of using the body as a canvas to be
amazing...

there are some people who just get tattoos because it is "cool," but i feel that
if someone gets them for the right reasons (ie self expression, for some people it is
even a spiritual thing), that they can be beautiful.

Being as how it's gayshift (hurrah!) and rps (boo!) and we've fallen off the bottom of the page (runs out of interjections!) here's him indoors when he was still raw and in agony –

(done in 2002, the black is now more blue but the other colours have held up reasonably and the fades are more fadey.)
