OkFreebase began on the Gayshift.
StickFigureNinja found the original photo on Pbase and posted the link here.
A couple of people did reconstructions of the face; Haku's was adopted as the 'official' version.
Someone, Gronkpan I think, named him Freebase (because of Pbase).
This was around the time of Vimod too, which you'll forgive me for not going into right now because it's just going to complicate matters too much... but...
somehow the two identities got partially merged, and Vimod became Vimod 'The Mod' Freebase. So there are actually 2 Freebases.
The Freebase we're talking about here though is NOT a mod, and cannot ban you from using Adobe Photoshop CS4, so you can relax about that.
Also around this time some of the FUCK busker and other FUCK images by Cockweasle inspired a bunch of response images... then in time FUCK became a frequent response, then eventually became pretty much a standard response to Freebase images.
I hope that's cleared that up. Also I just want to say, in no way do I spend too much time here.

if you overlay the non moving parts of the first frame on all of themthen your file can be a lot smaller and not slow the page down so much

sorry no, don't use Photoshopmost free animated gif tools from the 90s will do it in an instant though
I use a copy of Animation Shop I bought a long time ago, it has a propogate paste option that applies whatever you're holding to every frame wherever you place it.
How does Potatoshop handle gifs, just as layers? if so duplicate the first layer, erase the moving parts then duplicate and collapse down on to every frame.

Yeah, it does auto-ignore, at least that's the default option.The noise I'm seeing in Herman's post may be due to diffusion? I tend not to use it, since it often really inflates the filesize.

sizedone the picture in photoshop then used after affects to do the lightening,didnt set the time it was om 5 seconds,it came out at 120 frames so i chopped it down into photoshop,thats why its quite big!

an old copy of Paint Shop Pro X is what I use mostbest tip is to download a free animated gif tool, fuck Photoshop, overpriced nonsense.
