I remember a few years ago
having a conversation where the resounding feeling was, wouldn't it be brilliant if the LibDems had some say in politics, just any say at all. Now I wake up in a country where the LibDems are in a coalition government. Personally I think this is the most exciting, principled thing to happen in politics certainly within my lifetime (although I'm only little). As for Clegg, which is more principled? Doing what you think is right for the country in an unprecedented position, or making yourself more popular in the eyes of the masses? I think Clegg is sacrificing his political future and perhaps the future of his party for the sake of making a coalition work and achieving compromise where it is possible.

it's Jamie Oliver one that worries me more
as it's selling a lie that the enormous social problems created of having a load of kids with no prospects for work can be solved with a few celebs and a can do attitude. The implication being that this is all the teachers fault.

indeed
i think it was in the first episode of the schoo dinners thing where the parents were passing mcdonalds through the fence to their children. and they were probably the ones on free school meals anyway. lazy parenting where they can't be arsed to cook and would rather stick in a load of chips and a pie as it's easier.

I've been watching that show
and if anything it's showing the opposite. The majority of the celebs are failing as teachers. And it's clear that the real issue is the behavioural problems the kids have, which largely stem from their social environment. Also, that they chose to go on the show to become 'reality TV stars'.

get thee to thy local cineworld on a saturday morning
kids films for a quid. but you must take a kid along with you, it's not a nonce's pick and mix. it's on at 10.15 this week at my local one, which i shall take my little 'un to.

I was massively unimpressed :(
nothing in the film was as good as the Banana short that I saw first. Only good bit was the its so fluffy bit in the trailer. It was like a generic Channel 5 family film with Adam Sandler as an awkward dad having to look after kids, but done in CG. Very disappointing

plus some of the voices didn't match well
Russel Brand was fucking awful putting on an old man voice there were some terrible rendering errors and other reasons. (I'm not just saying it to be an arse, it was a based on observations :) Probably my own fault for expecting more from it.
