The unzipped exe files in the zip are for different screen resolutions. I'm just keen to allay fears as it's really stupidly good (ok - maybe better for the geeks among us, but hey).

and now my computer is spazzing due to low memory. Is this normal?
(, Mon 20 Jul 2009, 17:45, Reply)
This is a normal post Yes, sadly
It starts off as 4k - but then produces graphics proceduraly in advance of giving you the show. It's common with this type of ultra compressed program: they have to store the info somewhere.
(, Mon 20 Jul 2009, 17:46, Reply)
This is a normal post I don't open random .exes
but looking at his explanatory txt file, it's worth noticing that although his programme is less than 4k, it does make use of plenty of graphic software that's already on your computer and graphics card.

Not to diminish the achievement, of course, but still. I can make a pretty small Shockwave game, too, if I'm allowed to make use of all the graphics drawing routines in the Shockwave plugin.
(, Mon 20 Jul 2009, 17:31, Reply)
This is a normal post This I don't doubt.
Check the site linked to the above - and given that you sound like you develop this stuff too, I think you're exactly who I want to see it.

And damn - my sources are revealed:
tech.slashdot.org/story/09/07/20/1525203/Hacking-Hi-Def-Graphics-and-Camerawork-Into-4Kb
(, Mon 20 Jul 2009, 17:34, Reply)
This is a normal post trust me, you couldn't diminish the achievement by saying that
as it's irrelevant. Plus shockwave requires Flash on the PC and draws images via vector graphics, which hardly takes up alot of space!

More importantly, it contains a virus, W32/Sality.AO.
(, Mon 20 Jul 2009, 18:45, Reply)

that Panda Security for Windows 7, says that this file contains a virus W32/Sality.AO. So no matter how cool it is, I shant be running it.
(, Mon 20 Jul 2009, 18:48, Reply)
This is a normal post Yup - lots of A/V don't know what is arse and what is elbow
when it comes to packed executables.

The youtube video will have to suffice for you, then.

Edit: your virus is apparently "450,048 bytes" long. That's very impressive to have fitted it into something a hundred times smaller ;)
(, Mon 20 Jul 2009, 18:52, Reply)
This is a normal post That's irrelevant
from the general reaction you should of posted the youtube video instead as that has a link to the page for downloading the exe from there.

Do you honestly think it's wise to ignore your virus scanner if the virus is supposedly bigger than the file itself? Personally I trust what it says, that's why my pc works for so long without getting raped to fuck.

Edit: The YouTube video was pretty cool though.
(, Mon 20 Jul 2009, 18:58, Reply)
This is a normal post Irrelevant?
Erm. no. the viruses are packed too...

Not saying it's wise to do anything if you're unsure as to what you're doing or running on your computer. I was just thinking that as I know your A/V is wrong, I'd state the fact.

Given that the youtube video was a later find, and that it inherently diminishes the experience, I'd have to disagree that I should not have linked the original files.

Look up virtual machines. Sounds like you have the hardware to use them - and viruses are then no longer any threat (except to the virtual machine that you can just click out of existence if it borks).
(, Mon 20 Jul 2009, 19:03, Reply)
This is a normal post That's an exceptionally rash claim
There are several known circumstances in which a virtual machine can infect a real one, and there's no reason to suppose that VM sandboxes inherently offer perfect security.

He said: "It was enormous, the biggest thing I'd ever seen, and quick too, it darted across the wood. It crawled into a corner and stopped moving, I grabbed an empty box of screws and managed to trap it inside – it completely filled the box".

I'm afraid I might have just reached for the nail gun for that beastie.

Trouble is, I AM now thinking of Camel spiders! I just scanned the room, seems ok so far...
But inquiring minds need to know; if they aren't spiders, what are they?

An *8* legged spider? They don't come much worse than that.

What's the film?

It's just that that's the second film about bouncers that that guy gets killed in. I watched one the other day called Clubbed. I think it may be v.similar but distinctly lacking the Winstone...
(, Mon 20 Jul 2009, 16:23, Reply)
This is a normal post My general rule:
Don;t fcuk with pepoel that can fcuk you.

Police, bouncers, barpeople, waiters, boss, etc.

Not worth it. Getting siht kicked out of you (or fed to you) or what ever isn;t worth any amount of funny feelings in your trousers you get by insulting peopel doing a job.

Once I had a guy try to start on me in a club. The bouncers piled on him and kicked him out. They left me alone cos I thanked the bouncer earlier for letting me in the club.

Plus I might technically be married which I guess is also a factor. ;)
