ok, don't take this the wrong way, because it's not an insult, just my opinion.
You have a good style, it just doesnt really do anything for me. I think it has great potential though (not that it isn't good already, i just think any future expansion or alteration of the style could be interesting), and I'm looking forward to see what else you produce.

The Dutch have experimented with that
hey take local crossroads and remove all road markings, signs and traffic lights. Fewer accidents because people actually think to look around them to see what's coming.

...when I was a young child, walking along the sidewalk, I would sometimes get the illusion that I was standing still and the earth was moving under me. I knew that was not the case, of course, but it was still a fun illusion to play with.

It's mostly good because of Henry Fonda's performance
it's interesting to watch him discuss the case with the other characters. He really understands the differance between argument and discussion. And he's also surly and just plain cool.
Dean Stockwell has a pretty cool part too as a young kid who came up from the streets.

I think they missed a great opportunity there.
Had it been me, I would have made the aliens susceptible to alcohol, not water. Then I would have made Mel Gibson's character a drunk who was mourning his wife, and who was in the habit of leaving glasses with melted ice and a little booze in them everywhere, as well as bottles of whiskey or something. Then when the big scene at the end came, he would have not only been defeating the aliens, but his own addiction as well.
But that's just how I would have written it.
