if i wanted to look at manga, which to me, all looks pretty much the same, i'd go to da. but i don't, so i come here and laugh at silly pics and comment on some truely amazing pieces of original art. i think the main problem is a cultural one and b3ta's is silly and can be very difficult to understand.

Just wistfully imagining the numb 21st-century cyber-poignancy of all those people buying Bert Jansch tracks off iTunes today...
Bad AIDS, though? You think so? Hmm. Usually, people dying of the bad AIDS tend to develop a kind of gaunt appearance, and look like their jeans are a couple of sizes too big for 'em.

working the sketches up from
loads of reference pics and tracing. Then colour sampling from a bank of colour swatches and photo samples. But I tend to paint digitally alot like I did when in oils (although there was no way I could get the light or colour as good as this without computer help). Painter X definetly makes me look far more talented than I actually am. always try to stick to Greg Hildebrandt's cool shadows/warm light rule too (Hildebrandt was the guy along with his brother who did that original star wars poster)
all the Deri Air stuff is done with teh same technique. but it's a looser style and far more enjoyable
I sent a long sincere e-mail to a well known 'trad-digital' artist in the US asking for advice on brush technique a while back, who amazingly, not only replied but sent me the customised brushes he uses to load into my palette
