The NYT had the same story in 2004 and they spiked it after complaints from Weinstein's people, which included calls from Matt Damon and Russell Crowe to the reporter. In other words, at least 13 of the 30 years of Weinstein's debauchery did not need to happen.

There was never a single valid reason to exit the EU. "return of sovereignty" means absolutely nothing, except that we've now ostracised all of Europe, made ourselves into a tiny irrelevant pariah on the world stage and are willfully walking off a cliff edge into recession.

Anyone that voted for or promotes Brexit is a seditious saboteur who has gone out of their way to make this country worse for everyone (except perhaps retired racists on gold plated inflation linked pensions).

No-one has blocked any trade talks..or we wouldn't have got the "trade deal" with Japan..which was the EU one, because no-one could be bothered to re-negotiate.

Personally I'd be blocking all and any talks if I were in any position of responsibility, because staying in the EU is in the best financial interests of everyone in the UK, even if some of them are too stupid (or racist) to realise why.

If you think that is in this nations interest then you're bloody masochistic.

Just answer this then. We're supposed to have solved the Irish border problem before we can talk about trade. How the shuddering fuck are we supposed to sort the border out if we don't know the trading situation?

Those cunts in the EU are prepared to fuck over the Good Friday Agreement.

This vote that UK MEPS supported had one purpose, to stop trade being discussed. And that is in their electorates best interest? Fuck is it.

Leaving without a deal means an instant 10% hike on all imports coming from the EU (estimated 3/4 of all of our imports).

7.8% of the UK population are considered to be living permanently below the poverty line. This is going to push that up in a noticeable fashion for everyone.

Ironically the EU average percentage of people living perm. below the poverty line is 15.9% so in many ways by leaving the EU, we're actually becoming more like them. Well done brexiteers.

Only 6.1% permanently below the poverty line in France. They are doing better than us in that respect.

Perhaps their economy does quite well of the back of their gastronomic culture?

Probably wasn't a consideration for most Brexit voters due to their primary food group being "Greggs"

This is a normal post That 10% import duty would go to the state right?
We imported £312 billion from the eu last year, think we could find a use for 10% that?
How about use some to lower the VAT on healthy food?
(, Tue 10 Oct 2017, 14:45, , Reply)
This is a normal post
I'm sure we could, however what's actually going to happen is that the £312b will simply go up to £340b for us consumers. That's a huge extra wedge out of our pocket, which will hurt consumer spending, deepening recession and any tariffs raised will simply end up being sent on spiralling debt.

So you're happy that the government will be stealing an extra 10% of our money on a significant proportion of our goods, as their tax allocation and spending plans are absolutely above criticism and we'll definitely be seeing all of that ploughed back into public services, the NHS and saving babies.

Thank god the government can be trusted more with my cash than I can.

We don't have a manufacturing base, we produce a low number of luxury items and a lot of our imported food won't grow here because of the climate.

I was coming down the River Congo in 2003 on a huge barge and I watched a butterfly (I assume as it was during the day) pass over the barge. I watched it for probably a minute - it was flapping it's wings a couple of times and then gliding which I'd never see a butterfly do. It passed maybe 3 meters over my head and I estimated a 12" wing span. When I got back to civilisation I found that no butterfly that big existed. And the strange animal that was halfway between an ant eater and an antelope which I'd photographed still hasn't been identified. Just goes to show that there are still things out there to discover.
