Okay, latest project is DONE!
So here's my latest creation...
Because it's fairly big, here are links to two other views of it:
One
Two
I call it the Scrap Box, because the front of it is made entirely out of leftover bits of glass from various projects. The sides are some extra pieces I had from this, made because I wanted a few spares (which really means that at one point I lost count).
The box is attached to that board by means of a square of copper strips that were pieces of scrap copper someone had given me a while back. The board I had to buy, cut and router the edges on, and it's lit by a puck-type compact fluorescent light. I put a hanger on the back of it that is actually a part out of an old piano I helped dismantle, but I'm also putting on feet so it can sit on a table if desired.
And NOW it's time for beer. Going downtown to Capitol Alehouse to see That1Guy perform. Woo!

No idea
as I've only been to a few English pubs. But it is unusual in that it's a fairly small piece that can either lay on a table as a center lamp or hang on a wall.
Besides, it was a challenge for me to make it out of scraps.

Thank you!
The thing that was the worst part of this one was foiling all those bits. But I've ordered a gadget that holds the foil roll and applies it to the glass evenly, so the next one will be far less of a pain in the arse to do.
I've got enough scrap bits to make another one of these all ready to go. The only thing I might need to buy is some copper strips.

The sides are pieces
of handcrafted glass from a smallish factory in Pennsylvania. They're this pattern:
I use the copper foil method and soldered the ends together to form the box, then lay the front on top of that and soldered it into place.

i like that
and i can't tell from the phot whether ther light source is evenly spread to give uniform light, or a sigle point of light that would create different levels of illumination overall. But I think that either would be good, so.
