It might depend on codecs,
but it works in ImageReady 3 (Photoshop 6). You could try VirtualDubMOD too- it's free and can export frames easily enough.

My spakker way of doing it is to play the mpeg then pause it every time you want a still narmally straight on then off if yr building an animation, then when you have a still press ctrl + I this only works with mpegs
