The images vary. Normal moonshot is at ISO 80 1/400 F8. Obviously as the eclipse went on the light dropped, so I had to increase the exposure time until the final one was 30 seconds. Basically I guessed and took a lot of shots! I also did some adjustments in tattyshop to try to balance the contrast/brightness.

Not sure how to rip from DVD
but something like bulent's screen recorder will capture the footage from the DVD window. And something like gif movie gear (or anything supporting avi) will let you make a gif from the clip.

you
could use all sorts of video or frame capture software to do this but the simplest way of capturing small amounts of video would be a screen capture program. I use Snagit 8 personally. www.topshareware.com/005015-1-1.htm
edit:/ plus DVD vob files are simply Mpeg layer 2 files so anything that edits mpeg files will do.
(Pasanonic's been known to cause insanity in laboratory mice,

I was trying to avoid the frame-by-frame screen capture option
on account of the time consumption, but thanks all the same :)
(JahledThree shades of black,

nah,
snagit offers all sorts of screen capture options and saves to avi from real time capture. It takes as long as the video takes to play as it does to capture it
