So everything from a bison to an emu to an alligator.
I hate the people that eat the thing that they buy in packets and can't live with the reality.
On another note. I misdialed a number today and got my ex's number instead. I had to sort out the number barring again just in case she called me back.

first read some tutorials on how to handle the pen tool. You will get much smother images when you understand how to alter the anchor point handles to make curved corners. Pick your colours from the original image if you use one and use the 5point average tool in the colour picker. Faces are hard work and tonal changes in faces can benefit from a feathered edge to help with blending. Otherwise fine first tracing effort. No worse than the first one I had a go at. Oh and again just google for tutorials and read as many as you can. I've learned everything I know about tattyshop from net tutorials. I had no idea how to use it 2 years ago. ( not that I'm that much better now ;))

of course as soon as
it's saved as an image and not a vector file then it's no longer a vector. When they are posted here they are just jpeg images that have been produced using vector shapes. Like this simple line art inking I just did.
It'd be nice if the board supported SVG or something.

Well the vector file is not an images file
it's just a placeholder for all the mathematical data. You have to save it as something other to use it as a web image. Tiff would be the absolute best quality file but you'd get raped for posting them ANYWHERE.

Trace shapes over an image, to build up an interpretation of that image. It takes a lot of time (for me anyway) but allows you to go back and fiddle with shapes, colours, transparencies as much as you want.
Im' sure certain b3tans could give you better answers, such as Mofaha or B3ta's resident Queen Vectoria, In Vino Veritas.
Personally I think the great thing about vectors is that they can be sacled up or down to any size, because they are made up of shapes rather than pixels.
EDIT: As others have pointed out, 'vector' is the medium, not the image itself. Also of course many are made from scratch, not traced over bitmap images.

If you're interested in trying some vectoring, I believe Tattyshop/PSP have in-built vector functionality, as does the GIMP (it's just a bit crap). I would recommend a dedicated vector package though, such as Illustrator, or the free Inkscape.

Alright, folks, stoppit
Its not tracing. Its only tracing if youer using the pen tool to trace something. Which is just what everyone does, and calls it a vector, which is technically right, but just not an accurate representation of a vector, since vectors dont describe the picture, just the way it was created.

I've been saying this for years.
People open tattyshop and proceed to create paths with the pen tool. Then they fil and or stroke those paths. They post the image here and call it a vector. It's never been a vector unless all the paths and shapes are saved for future scaling and altering. Most of the images here are simply traced images of photographs using a path to define where to fill the colour and nothing more.

i remember being taught this
during AS IT (snore) but am i also right in asuming that if i save above vector and open it in PSP it'll become de-vectorised and will look shitty when scaled up?
(cs192is sucking on a Koala at,
Sat 5 May 2007, 0:08,

depends
if you save it in a vector format PSP will open it in vector format and will scale it up properly... PSP understands vector images.

take files and or folders
whatever you use to burn to disc tell it to use the system hard drive to burn to instead of a disc. The resulting file will be a disc image that others can use to burn to CD. It will be one of many extensions depending upon the software. .ISO is the industry standard.
And now I want some of whatever it is.
