Erm
I think the writing transends the budget. The TV series was well ahead of its time in certain aspects. DNA was constantly having to argue the case that the guide scenes weren't done by computer. It's a sad day when comedy is rated by it's special effects.

I like to think of the movie as a loving tribute
Rather than worry about it being canon. Biographer and Adams expert MJ Simpson gave it a scathing review and other dedicated h2 fans gave him such a hard time he threw the toys out of the pram and said he wouldn't write another word about him. People forget that none of it was ever meant to be "canonical", that's how DNA approached it (radio, books, TV, computer game) So the film wasn't great but Adams co-wrote it, it doesn't really matter. Except for the whole Humma Kavula angle which made me wince.

I've had problems with my teeth recently
including one broken tooth that I didn't get fixed for two years, and by the time I went to the dentist it was too late and they had to extract it root and all. I mention this because a week ago when I was eating a sausage from Somerfield, I found what looked like a fragment of tooth in my mouth mid-chew. I panicked because I assumed another tooth was going, but no matter how hard I look, I cannot find any damage to any of my teeth. You have set my mind at rest though; if bone fragments are common-place in shitty sausages, then that's probably what I found. Thank you.

Yes.
I made my own sausages once. They were good, but I couldn't get the hang of tying them in the old bunches-of-three. Fortunately I have one of the best butchers in the North West of England not 30 yards from my house. They make their sausages to the same recipe, in the same way, that they made them when they started trading in 1844.

I buy a lot direct from farmers too.
It's often cheaper, as well as better. The farmer I buy lamb off sells lamb shoulder at 4.50/kg, whereas it's 6 quid per kilo at Asda. If he sells it to Asda he gets about 80p/kg from them for it, so customers buying directly off him is a win:win situation for everyone; except Asda, but they've got it coming.

Not nearly so much as Somerfield though.
When Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall tried to get the supermarkets to agree to a meeting about free-range chickens, they were all cunts. But Somerfield was probably the worst. The CEO said something along the lines of "we don't see any point in encouraging our producers to go down a road that will not be maintained by our customer base." Translation: "There's no point us doing the right thing because all our customers are ignorant chavs." I refuse to shop there now, even though it's only about 40 yards away. The sausage with the bone in it was the missus' fault.
