My evening's viewing is mapped out. Are you jealous? ;)

No.
I have never been obsessed with wasting my time on science. I leave that to the scientists. Now Maths however, that is cool.

Maths is the queen of the sciences, you tit!

Maths is even more than that
It's a language AND a science.
(

Yeah, a language for bastards.
Oh, so a 'color' and a 'label' are both numbers? Fuck you, graph theorists!
(

Graph theory isn't maths, that's just playing around with crayons
AND NOTHING EULER CAN SAY WILL CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE. Hmmph. Actually I really liked graph theory, probably because it involved playing around with crayons. I remember one module I liked even more, which we called "taxicab geometry", it's where you work with a totally discrete 2D geometry where the only parts that exist are the intersections of gridlines. Then you see what happens to normal geometry. Circles become tilted squares, ellipses become diamonds, parabolae become weird things like parallel tracks with a triangle stuck on the end, and hyperbolae are boringly little changed. That was fantastic stuff.

Euler is old school. It's all about Erdös nowadays...

Erdos is old school
nowadays its all about Terrence muthafucking Tao. Green-Tao theorem. Epic. Ben Green lectured me.

Hmm.
So it's like an embedding of geometry in a discrete grid er... topology thing. Sounds a bit like chemical graph layout, except that is usually a hexagonal grid.
(
The Alchemist king of the needlessly complicated ,
Fri 16 Apr 2010, 18:27,

Yep.
No idea what it's properly called. I thought it would be discrete geometry but I bought the Schaum outline of discrete geometry and...... it was gash, nothing to do with it. :(

I prefer graph theory and the like to...
statistics Oh how I loathe statistics and probability.

The stats and probability half of my A level was modular. I did the exams and then burned the notes. I have, of course, spent the ensuing 15 years of my life first doing quantum mechanics, which is basically continuous probability theory patched onto classical mechanics patched onto linear algebra, and then doing a PhD in what was meant to be general relativity and turned out to be a bunch of fucking STATISTICS. I take great pride in the fact that I have a PhD in, effectively, statistics and am about to put out another paper with the word "statistics" in the title, have taught "statistical" mechanics to Masters level and still don't have the faintest fucking clue what statistics is all about. I am also aware that probably no-one will read this reply given that it's about 90 minutes late. But I don't care. That's how we geeks roll.

You really should!
It is fucking fantastic, well, judging by the first episode. Potentially the best thing David Simon has done in my opinion. I haven't caught up on this season of BB yet, but rest assured I shall. Everyone seems to be getting obsessed with it now that it is on UK TV. But you and I know that we were the trailblazers ;)

I'll let you know when I've changed my seedbox
which should be soon. I took my current one thinking it was a good deal (500gb space 1Gbit unlimited transfer speed ) and it is, sort of. Until I realised that they won't give me more than 1 FTP account. And it's not like I like you well enough to trust you with my login details you big arse. ;) My 3 month first contract is up soon so I'll be moving on.

Fridays are always extra hectic and full of shit for me.
In the park at lunchtime, I watched a crow grab and, very slowly, kill a pigeon and then eat its innards. At one point it wondered off with the head in its beak before coming back for more innards. All the other pigeons just stood about no more than 3 feet away.

there were two women also watching
who were torn as to whether to try and save the pigeon, thinking it was dead and then it'd flap around and they'd want to save it again.

Superb
I am genuinely upset I did not witness this

I was entranced and would have stopped the women interferring if they'd tried
"It's nature," I would have said, " It's not our place to interfere." I'd have continued. I didn't know crows killed things, but it was so easy for this one it must do it all the time, it literally just leant over and grabbed a pigeon by the neck. And the wondering off with the head bit demonstrated what a showman that crow is.
