This is a normal post it's easy to fly given a bit of practice on a simulator
there are easier things to fly- i learned on a trainer- but this will survive crahses quite well so i'm planning on teaching my son to fly with it.
(, Fri 24 Aug 2012, 13:22, Reply)
This is a normal post Excellent :D
My James bought an RC Helicopter once and we both thought (foolishly) it would be easy to fly. However they are extremely tricky things to balance and if you smash the blades and bend the main prop-shaft it's expensive to repair and re-trim back up.
(, Fri 24 Aug 2012, 13:26, Reply)
This is a normal post my experience with planes has taught me this
fly things made of foam, and glue them together when they break.

best thing is to make it yourself from foam. reinforce everything, build it to survive crashes.

all the "proper" people on rcgroups are always saying build as light as possible to make it fly best- I reckon they are too cautious. Clearly if you're not smashing it in to the ground every other time you try and fly it you're not pushing the boundaries.

Once something's flying comfortably it immediately becomes boring. Time to stick on a bigger motor and make it go faster, find out what happens.

gopro on the nose- i've crashed it several times. LESSON- only a FUCKING IDIOT thinks it's ok to strap a go pro on a home made foam plane without the protective case on.

I piled one in to the ground at about 80mph without the case. not pretty.

With the case they survive pretty much anything.

This is a link post Anders Behring Breivik: Norway court finds him sane
"A Norwegian court has found that mass killer Anders Behring Breivik is sane and sentenced him to 21 years in jail.

Breivik admitted killing 77 people and wounding more than 240 others when he bombed central Oslo and then opened fire at an island youth camp last year."

I'm just wondering if 21 years seems somewhat lenient for the scope of his crimes. But i'm also genuinely amazed by one of the reactions of the relatives of one of the victims:

"Now we won't hear about him for quite a while. Now we can have peace and quiet," Per Balch Soerensen, whose daughter was among those killed in the shootings on on Utoeya island, told Denmark's TV2."

This is a normal post There s a logic to what he did though.
From his POV the left wing politicians let the foreigners in and he didn't like foreigners very much. These politicians were teaching the next generation their political ideas at the summer camp and he didn't want the next generation of politicians to let even more in, so he killed them.

See, it's logical.

This is a normal post They have no 'life' sentence
Because they are open to the concept of personal reform through incarceration. Of course in this case there's not going to be any chance of that happening (or him ever being considered for relaease) but they still have to sentence based on their fairly enlightened principles and laws rather than saying '71 Life sentences' which makes no sense anyway.

This is a normal post I kind of understand it
It robs Breivik of any importance, he'll be locked up inside, and the world will move on, in 10 years he'll be an old news story that nobody under 20 will ever have heard of.

He'll be proven to be nothing, of no importance, and having none of the impact that he imagined he'll have.

Now he's away, the families can begin to move on and put it behind them, without seeing his face and hearing his name everyday.

Peace and quiet.

This is a link post Mystery Mayoral Norwegian package to be opened...
I love these kind of stories...

Town holds breath over 100-year-old package
After a 100-year wait, a town in central Norway will learn on Friday what’s inside the mystery package left behind by a former mayor.

Speculation is rife about the contents of the three-kilo parcel, sealed and bound in 1912 by the then mayor of Sel, Johan Nygaard, who wrote on the package that it “can be opened in 2012”, newspaper VG reports...

So as is traditional, I ask... What do YOU think will be in it?

My vote (as always) is eye wateringly strong porn.

This is a link post The 3rd Annual Greenwich Charity Pantomime Horse Race 2012 - Vid appeal
As some of you guys know, for the past 2 years, myself and a few other B3Tan's help put together a silly Pantomime Horse Race in aid of Demelza Children's Hospice for sick and terminally ill kids. The race is not until December but we are appealing for companies to really get behind it this year and help us raise between 3-5k. The race will now feature 20 panto horse plus random fruit, vegetables and other 'organisms' . A proper B3ta race it is :) Thanks for your continuing support!
(, Fri 24 Aug 2012, 10:32, Reply)
This is a normal post Well..
If every horse (say 20) that enters the race gets just *1* company/business to support them for 50 quid - the company get a poorly printed advert pasted on the horse's arse - then that's a grand straight off. Pubs would jump at the chance. Add another 50 quid and they get thanked in the credits of the inevitable youtube video. Another grand.

Seriously - if you can't raise 10k doing this then give up.

2 quid per photo of kids sitting on panto horse of their choice. Snap, send to wireless printer, 2 quid please.

There's a hundred different ways to raise money when you do a daft race like this.

Cheers

Cheers for the heads up..Pubs are involved and infact, the 'route' involves the Horses stopping off at various pubs to get 'watered'. It would be great to raise over £10 but I'm setting the bar at £3-£5k and hope for the best. I'm looking for companies to put in at £100 per Horse (effectively £50 min donation as the horse costumes are £50 per Horse to hire.) If anyone can put the word out then it would be great as I'm looking for a company to properly sponsor the race itself as well as it costs a bit to fund obv but any help is good help.

Race is 23rd December. Major, major piss-up time. My first port of call would be the local council offices. Early November, stand outside of them and leaflet the staff going in. Make it some sort of departmental challenge.

Rinse and repeat with every big employer in the area.

Make the cost of entry = to cost of hiring costume. Get local rag involved. Start a facebook page where teams can boast and insult each other before race day.
