Michael Jackson---MJ’s BAD
It really shocked me a lot when I got the news that MJ passed away. I was surfing online when the news popped up suddenly on my PC and made me puzzled. “Is it a virus?” It was the first idea came to my mind. Then I clicked in and went through other news sites and found it true. “The King of Pop’s era freezes forever on June 25.”, that’s the second idea came to my mind. I would say that he called an end to an era, the era of “the King of Pop”. It seems that all the fans and about-to-be fans were in grief, especially the ones who were expecting to attend his tour in London. But now this king was gone.

Looking back on his albums and songs, BAD is my favorite since he grew out of his Childness and had Attitude then. It is the seventh studio album by MJ which was released on August 1, 1987 by Epic/CBS Records. 20 years after its release, the album has sold over 30 million copies worldwide. Bad is the first, and currently only, album ever to feature five Billboard Hot 100 #1 singles. There’s no doubt that he was a talent and king in the pop world. On my iPod, this song is always there and never changes. And it will be there forever. I also love the BAD lyrics and the Bad Tour, although I only watched some videos of that.

This tour was the largest tour done by a solo performer. It created huge press and media coverage across the globe. The attendance was about 4.4 million. During this tour his concert at Aintree was a sellout with a turnout of 125.000 people. When the tour concluded it grossed a total of $125 million, adding two new entries in the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest grossing tour in history and the tour with the largest attended audience.
At last, I should say, “He was the legend.” Now he was a true “lost child”. There won’t be new MJ singles, new MJ Albums, new MJ tours any more. All we can do is to save the songs and get as many copies as we can. Someday, when we are going through stuffs in our old magazines, CDs, DVDs, PC, or portable devices, and hit an MJ news, an MJ song or album by chance, we will get into deep thinking of what happy times we had with his great music. Let’s wish him a peaceful and wonderful life in the heaven. There will be no rumors, prejudice, or diseases.

Then whenever you got a record producer saying piracy funds terrorism you could say that buying music funds paedophilia.

Edit: Cheers for the FP but just a quick note to say that
I wrote this as a piss-take justification of pirating movies
not as actual fact so no need to try to poke holes in it.
Instead look up Adam Curtis on Youtube and watch some
of his wonderful documentaries where you can see a
genius at work and indirectly steal from him.

Doesn't sound like a good way for the film industry to go to me!

All the low budget films, that no one goes to see, and just get downloaded, and don't make money, leaving hardworking directors up the shitter as people are fighting them, at the same time as the major film companies.

The most obvious being if the studios stop making blockbusters then what will the kids download and then surely the cycle will start again.
But the basic economic model of the major movie studios will have to change along with the online environmento.
Still FP'd so like I care!!!!!!!!!

..nobody goes to see low budget films because they don't get 'general release' in cinema chains, they don't get posters, and they don't get reviewed in newspapers because newspapers only review films that take out lots of advertising with them.
The only way these films ever become profitable cult movies is through free advertising when they get when they are shown on TV. Piracy is an additional avenue of free advertising, it's the same people who watch a film for free on TV and then decide it's so good they want to buy the DVD that will watch the film for free via bittorrent and then decide it's so good they want to buy the DVD.
If free advertising is bad for a film, then that's because it's one of those 'I want my £6 and 2 hours of my life back please' films.

this could cause hollywood to go the opposite route, make films that appeal to the lowest common denominator, to corral as many people into the theatre as possible, thus reducing the quality. I think your conclusion would come true if the Hollywood types had any dignity whatsoever, but that's not exactly a forgone conclusion, now is it :-P

I can also speak from the position of an artist who worked at a very small games studio whose product was pirated very quickly which resulted in us all being made redundant. So it does hurt the indies very, very hard.
The real negative issue of piracy is more and more fat stupid kids who sit in front of their computers downloading everything are spreading the word that everything should be free, because from their ridiculous position life is very cheap with as their bills paid for by their parents and their hobbies of music, games and films cost nothing. So don't any of you artists go out expecting to get paid for your photoshop work any time in the near future as we should be paying them to take a look at it and just rely on a giant Coca Cola sign across it to pay the rent.

Why should people pay for something they can download for free? You should do your photoshop and game programming live. Then you could charge for ticket sales and sell merchandise at the venue.
(I'm joking. As a musician people always tell me to do that. It doesn't make sense for most musicians either.)

The shit that deserves a cash injection is the stuff that really pushes the buttons of society (be it current, political, topical or just brilliant).. the REAL DEAL is the material that people will be listening to/watching in fifty years time..
If the 'Credit Crunch' (I hate that phrase) has taught us anything, is that 'Brilliant' material will SELL.. and those that produce it will prosper (Good on them!).
Everything else is 'throw-away' and if people download it, it doesn't mean that actually give a shit about it. Chances are they will just delete it right after they realise that is was not worth buying in the first place.
The 'pirate' world should be embraced by the media producers as a critic of the dross that a lot of them churn out.
Ask any 'fan' of anything that was downloaded early. It was probably worthy of buying in the first place.
It doesn't matter if they found it three months before it became public. They'll still buy it on the launch day.
If sales are 'damaged' it is because it was probably borderline crap in the first place.
Get out of your own asses and stop paying actors $150M dollars and send some of that cash downstream to the people who actually work harder than the 'a-list' (pfft!) actors..

the ridiculous overbudgetting of movies also leads to the overpricing of cinema tickets/dvds which in turn motivates another section of the downloaders.
