Cat weightlifting.
Some prime madness from the home of madness. A clip from a Japanese programme where cats have to make off with increasingly large fish. Worth it for the enthusiasm from the commentator, good editing too. Japanese television looks so much better than ours. And some of you lot might like it for all the cats.
Don't think it's glassy either.

I thought City of the Daleks was shit.
Terrible nausea-inducing camera, awful movement controls, needless instant death from poorly bolted on stealth gameplay (softened somewhat by instant restart at the last checkpoint, but still a bad idea), uninteresting puzzles, and random real-world facts plumbed into it... presumably in an effort to fulfil the public-service broadcaster remit...?
I won't try this one.

This
Tried to play it, felt a bit weird that I was struggling with a low budget child-friendly edutainment game while my 9-year-old brother was off stabbing people's faces in Call of Duty next door, felt pathetic and gave up.
I desperately want to see this concept applied to a game with the Weeping Angels: www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPP5Ja7YNas . You have to solve puzzles, but the game world doesn't freeze as you do it, so every now and then you have to stop and look up/run away before the statue monsters get too close and snap your neck.
Would be fucking incredible, but no way would they ever make that.

Strange, anachronistically modern bronze sculpture from ancient Rome
This bust struck me as very odd. The article doesn't comment on it, but it's such a realistic and dynamic portrait such that one wouldn't expect it to be from that time period.

Yeah well I realise I wasn't exactly clear when I said "tomb paintings" when they're not quite that.
I studied them for a year at Foundation along with other iconographic bollocks. I guess inevitably when it comes to a descriptive short hand I've managed to remember them as "Pass us those pictures of the Egyptian Tomb Paintings, would you dear?"

I believe that that kind of realistic portrayal was pretty common in late ancient Greece and ancient Rome. Note that the sculpture is not supposed to depict someone handsome, but rather someone old (and therefore, by some Roman standards at least, someone ugly).

I've seen both bands live. Radiohead's Victoria Park gig bored the living shit out of me for long periods while Thom went off into masturbatory noodling solos. I left after the second encore when it became clear they had no intention of finishing before the tubes stopped, stranding their audience in the arse-end of London.
Muse at Wembley on the other hand put on an awesome show. I still rate that as among the very best gigs I've seen. I don't like all their songs and some do indeed sound very similar to each other, but at no point can I ever say I was bored.

However, it would have been good if he had come on and revealed loads of final episode spoilers for people who were planning on watching it when they got home.

I have been present at many incidents where the police have been telling people to do this and that and when they've been asked what act they're using and what reasonable grounds for suspicion they have, they back off and stand down because they know they're in the wrong. It just depends on who's doing it. A man in a shirt with a name tag is likely to be treated much better than a young man with an intimidating hair-do and a slogan on his tshirt.
