Yup, I have
it's an outstanding game - a 9/10, BUT, it's missing various bits from teh first that I prefered (an inventory for one thing) and it's steadily moving from ActionRPG to a pure action game with a great plot. Also, there are some NASTY bugs in it Still a brilliant game, though!

www.thegamecollection.net/mass-effect-2-pc-p-3139.html The first one was one of the dullest game-playing experiences I'd ever had. ME2 is suppossed tio be a bit better... mmm... Think I'll save my pennies for Bioshock next week

really? I think it ranks up there as one of my favourites...
I hated Bioshock though. Loved System Shock, and when I heard it was the "spiritual successor" I got all excited... I hardly used the plasmids, only when it was plot specific; the weapon upgrade system felt tagged on, it was too easy and so on... I still can't understand why it's so popular. In other news, STALKER 3 is out on friday.
(

I just loved the atmos, the style, gameplay
I never played System Shock, so I wasn't playing it thinking "wahat a rip-off" ME just left me cold. I'd heard so many good things about it and I settled down prepared to lose myself in it, and it was talking, bit of talking, some more talking, ooh choose a response, talking, ... I think it was an hour before I landed on the first planet. Or maybe it just felt like it.

Yeah, I see what you mean about that... I read the prequel book before it came out just for the hell of it, so

Pasta originated...
You would think this was an easy sentence to complete. However, the history of this staple food is, in fact, somewhat less than clear. Many people have been taught that pasta came to Italy from China when Marco Polo returned from his journey there. One thing we do know, pasta was already in Italy when Marco left for China. The controversy arises because there is pasta as we know it today, and lots of other ways of making a very similar food indeed.

mainly the guy that was taking experimental drugs to supplement his income having a bit of a freakout at the end of each episode At some point the tv execs got their hands on it and made it all nice and non-threatening. If I get a planet, and then I make an ocean on the planet, and the water is all the same temperature and space is insulating somehow and the planet is insulating too and there's nothing to heat or cool the water,
does the ocean get hot at the bottom because of pressure? Or does it get cold at the bottom, like our ocean? Or does the temperature even out? Or does it keep on convecting? A bird wouldn't even be able to answer that.

To make a Ragoo of Pigs-Ears
TAKE a quantity of pigs-ears, and boil them in one half wine and the other water; cut them in small pieces, then brown a little butter, and put them in, and a pretty deal of gravy, two anchovies, an eschalot or two, a little mustard, and some slices of lemon, some salt and nutmeg: stew all these together, and shake it up thick. Garnish the dish with barberries.

also to answer to your question I need to clarify some things
Does the rotation of the planet move the water? Are there tidal forces at play? If so, how many moons does this planet have and what gravitational pull do they have on the water?

well if the water remains perfectly still and there is no way for the water to heat up or cool down then I guess it would remain in a constant state
Was the water all at an even temperature when the ocean was formed? Is the ocean completely still?
(
gronkpan @vomitinglarry.bsky.social ,
Wed 3 Feb 2010, 2:57,
archived )
Yes, and yes.
What I reckon happens is that first the pressure means it heats up a little bit at the bottom, and that warm water stays down there because it's being compressed, and the heat evens out after a bit, and there you are, it's just a lot of water and it's slightly warmer all through than when I put it there. Which means our ocean is only cold at the bottom because things make it hot in places and that water rises.
(
_Felix 's school of dance and occult sciences ,
Wed 3 Feb 2010, 3:02,

Our ocean isn't uniformly cold at the bottom though
I mean there are all sorts of volcanic activities going on down there.

See, the earth gets hotter as you go deeper
and the atmosphere gets colder as you go higher, but the ocean is the other way up, and that bothered me. Actually there's probably some bit of the upper atmosphere that's really hot, it's called the hotosphere, birds don't go there, they don't even know about it.
(
_Felix 's school of dance and occult sciences ,
Wed 3 Feb 2010, 3:10,

But the bottom of the ocean is still the top of the crust, which is the coldest part of the earth.
The crust is really very thin, like the skin on milk or the rind of an apple.
