decides to build a wall along the M6 to trap everyone in. Cut to 30 years later, the virus has started in pockets in London and they've noticed some Scots are still alive so they send a crack troupe of soldiers into Glasgow to find the cure. It turns out that the Glasweegies have turned into post apocalyptic mad max cannibals (one drives a car panelled with humal skin) and the Edinburgers have reverted back to a medieval feudal economy with full period dress.

Have you seen Panorama lately?

The Beeb and ITV news are obsessed with scare-mongering stories about everything from cvomputers, the economy to travel.

If there's a computer/internet angle to a seemingly pointless story they run it.

A year or two ago, Panorama ran a show about online gambling, but at no point did they say that gambling was gambling whether you did it online or ina betting shop. Somehow the fact that it was 'online' made it a different/worse proposition.

I wrote to BBC Newswatch about it and got completely ignored.

You should go to the PCC ...

because it's just a good browser and it's good.

Also - today Outlook decided that my keyboard should be in an American layout, so now I don't have @ or £ or " in my emails... that's good too.

# Ah, I might know this one.
Have a look in Language settings in Control Panel- there's a stupidly easy key-combo to switch keyboard layouts.
It used to make Photoshop hell for me on a regular basis.

(, Wed 3 Sep 2008, 11:47, archived)
# Because I've thought for a long time that you should be willing to take responsibility for your food
My mum keeps chickens and sheep, I've seen both grow, even helped birth some, and eaten those exact same ones. I've snapped the neck of a chicken, I've driven lambs to the slaughter house (not done it myself, that would be cruel, it takes skill), it isn't pleasant but at least I know they have had a good life.

I saw some pigs a few days ago and it's the first time I've ever actually seen and touched them, and really made the connection for how smart they're supposed to be. Something feels really wrong there, I'm not sure I could raise one and then get it slaughtered for food. And if I couldn't do that then I don't feel like I deserve to eat pork.

I'm still mulling it over, but it's not easily resolved as yet.
