Same plan as last year and same venue as they seemed able to cope and had lovely beers.
From clairebare
So general consensus is that we are doing a tasteless, random secret Santa, this means everyone who loves the cheap consumerism of our lord Jesus's birthday can bring a wrapped, lovingly chosen item of pure tat (in accordance with our tradition here at b3ta) which we will randomly give to a joyful recipient via the medium of a large sack (snigger).
CHEAP TATTY SHIT EXCHANGE! IT'LL BE LIKE SWAPSHOP REBORN. i might even dress as Noel Edmonds Santa.
Come one, come all, take some shit home to remember us!
Rosie has the follwing to say and wants you all to know
I phoned the porterhouse and they won't let me make a reservation for that day, so we need to bagsy an area. If people are getting there early then they might like to go and bagsy the area we were in last year, The lady on the phone said 4pm would be a good arrival time as it would be fairly quiet still, but also the people with lunch reservations would probably be gone: the latest reservation she has for that day is 2pm.
So there you go, people might like to have the info so that whoever is getting there early knows what they need to do!
Fenris has found some where cheap to stay

I thought of brum seeing as it is the in the middle. One problem is brum is rubbish and I now longer live there.

How about... Martlesham?
( , Thu 27 Jul 2006, 17:30, Reply)

The notion that any other city is easier to get to is ridiculous.
( , Thu 27 Jul 2006, 17:37, Reply)

Just not to get INto, and to park, and to not spend a gazillion pounds
Fish: Brum is lovely I moved up here! Depends who you're with and where you go, the same as any city :)
( , Thu 14 Sep 2006, 9:04, Reply)

its far easier to get to your own house than london. so i suggest we all stay where we are and find some medium to communicate from there. like...erm...oh
( , Sat 23 Dec 2006, 11:00, Reply)

i suppose you could get a list of everynoe who wants to go, and then work out the easiest place for the majority of those to get to.
or you could make it possible for people to create their own bashes.
( , Fri 22 Dec 2006, 19:00, Reply)

London's a piece of piss to get to from anywhere in the country. Just because it's a long way doesn't mean it's difficult.
And there are more places to stay.
And the porterhouse is a great pub.

Also I run a backpackers hostel in Earls Court (15 mins away from the site by tube). I'm sure I can sort out something with the owner about getting cheap rates for anyone who needs it (tenner of something).
( , Sun 13 Aug 2006, 14:50, Reply)

As I would be in need of crash space for this. Perhaps I should bring a friend of mine as well who lives in London.
( , Sun 1 Oct 2006, 21:00, Reply)

So you better not all be a set of cunts. Taht London is a far away place for me to go to.
( , Sun 13 Aug 2006, 15:41, Reply)

Seriously. I'll try and sort out a cheap rate at the backpackers I run.
I'll even decorate spekkle B3ta rooms!
Plus it'll make the taxi sharing easier for me on the way back loads cheaper :)

Count me in.
( , Mon 14 Aug 2006, 16:04, Reply)

My first meeting of other b3tans, too.
I don't live far from the area (east end) so it's going to be easy.

This is a tempting idea if I can't find some cheap yoof hostel. I'd like to go, but I can't really afford any fancy pants expensive accommodation.
( , Wed 4 Oct 2006, 23:31, Reply)

Since you've done that once now... I'll be in London this week, so maybe lunch!

( , Fri 27 Oct 2006, 0:06, Reply)

as I may be getting a late train home on the day rather than kipping over, so I'll try to bag us an area.
( , Mon 30 Oct 2006, 8:56, Reply)

I wont be there for 4pm though, but I'll come straight after work ( I work near the Barbican centre)
( , Tue 31 Oct 2006, 8:01, Reply)

I've now booked the day off work, and the day after, and I am in the process of booking a hotel.
( , Wed 6 Dec 2006, 0:13, Reply)

but I see the the Strand Palace that I stayed at last time has doubled the cost of the room. Probably because of the state I left it last year. What with all the faeces and that.
Any advice on cheap and localish places to crash welcomed.
[edit] Can't make it. Sorry to disappiont everybody. Because clearly you all should be.
( , Wed 1 Nov 2006, 14:02, Reply)

Who else will be there before, say, 7ish?
( , Wed 1 Nov 2006, 14:20, Reply)

( , Thu 9 Nov 2006, 17:25, Reply)

The Rose Court Hotel looks to be the cheapest and still within ten minutes' walk, forty-five pounds a night. Sixty seems to get a twin, so if you can share you're even better off.
Otherwise, there are plenty of cheap hotels around Victoria which is only ten minutes away on the bus or a half-hour walk.
( , Mon 6 Nov 2006, 15:41, Reply)

as I know so many people who are going.
( , Mon 6 Nov 2006, 20:26, Reply)

If you're going, I might be able to convince my parents to let me go with you (if that's alright).
( , Mon 6 Nov 2006, 22:53, Reply)

Depends on work, money & stuff but it should be OK. Which is the nearest train station to you?
/edit, right, I've booked the afternoon off work and H-B said he'd do me an 'I'm with the ginger' T-shirt specially for the occasion.

Rarely post, should do more but not in the same line of work as you guys, triumph on the Virgin thing, only as Mr Letch Beard himself is well known to my family and i seriously made a damp patch in my jeans scrolling through the entries! Bringing my destitute partner who wont know what the fuck is going on but a great designer and stuck in shit roles, maybe you guys could send her in the right filth ridden mind directions????? TTFN

How about a pirate? You could start a great trend. In twenty years' time, all the regulars' children will be going to the b3ta Christmas pirate bash and they'll have you to thank.

( , Tue 28 Nov 2006, 11:07, Reply)

factoring in a dash back to N8, trowelling some slap on, & getting to the pub, I'd guess we'll be there by about 2pm. Which means I will most likely be ferociously drunk by about 5pm.

I'm on a limited budget.
Will dance for drinks.
