is there a fractal generation scheme for them or is it just polygons and then a texture render.
(, Tue 3 Mar 2009, 10:14, archived)

and it generates on the hoof each time you use one. It has some odd way of handling the large numbers of polygons, without causing the world to implode.

It was late, and I'd left a few stray settings 'on' that should have been 'off'.

;-) I know for next time...

Edit: Oh, sorry - to answer your question: the scene file (with the textures folded in is about 20MB) rendered out at 1600x1000 as an alpha-ed psd / 72 dpi is roughly 15MB.
(, Tue 3 Mar 2009, 10:12, archived)
# I like Vue.
Does nice skies.
I got this last week. Been a bit poorly so it remains in the box. I might install it and have a play today.
www.daz3d.com/i.x/software/carrara

Edit:/ if you are getting a second machine and will still be running this one I recommend getting a vue rendercow and you'll be able to render the same scene on the 2 machines ( same with Bryce lightening ) providing they are networked.
You'll save a lot of time, or use the same time but be able to add more elements.
(, Tue 3 Mar 2009, 10:15, archived)
# Yeah, I've played around with Carrara a bit, it is nice and fast,
but it doesn't always 'react' in the way you expect. Have a tinker with it - you'll see what I mean.

Edit: Render-farm was my intention, yes indeed - but thanks for the tip.
Did you ever get Bryce Lightning to actually work? It always claimed to be running, but never seemed to speed the process up in the slightest.
(, Tue 3 Mar 2009, 10:19, archived)

All I had to go on was the area she lived in, her first name and that she made jewlry. Techinally shat should be enough but her name is the name of a jewelry stone so ther was no hope.

Are you Ian

Of all the documents on the internet what are the chances that not only did mine get read by her but she recognised the story as mine annd got in contact.

# Emo Night at the Comedy Club...
...not what the punters were expecting.

Emo Philips (born Phil Soltanec, February 7, 1956) is an American entertainer and comedian born in the Chicago suburb of Downers Grove. Much of his standup comedy stems from the use of paraprosdokians and garden path sentences spoken in a wandering falsetto tone of voice and a confused, childlike delivery of his material to produce the intended comic timing in a manner invoking the 'wisdom of children' or the idiot savant.
