apparently up to the 3rd century it was a mark of honour to do it "warts n all", showing respect for a life well lived, etc. Then it got all showy and classical and ... yawn. pah. Bloody Constantine.
And how do you get someone to sit still for something of that precision? the preliminary sketches must have been something else...

Haha, the vodka should've taken care of that fear though
I eat the worms (usually, they're presented separately). I believe it's more a thing for the tourists now. The worms were originally put in the bottles to verify there was enough alcohol in there to preserve the worm.

It wasn't fear of contamination...

Although I did feel very annoyed with myself afterwards :/

I found that eating crickets and grasshoppers isn't that bad
it's even a bit nice (although these were quite dry due to roastiness and chilis and salt).
I think I'd try a small alcohol-drenched scorpion, even if I was sober. Well, probably ;)

CHB is called paul, the man in the photo, thats CHB (paul).
CHB made a joke that because both his name and the chap's name in the advert [in who's bathroom, a while would like to poo in], he demonstarted his distate for the advert in such, he would smack the child with a stick if he went to do a poo in CHB [paul]'s toilet.
