180gsm watercolour paper from France.
(, Thu 29 Aug 2013, 2:09, archived)
# Aha.
I have trouble finding sufficiently smooth paper for colour pencil work. WH Smith's do the best for me.
(, Thu 29 Aug 2013, 2:11, archived)

120gsm should do. Above c.200 and it's card.

# The matt A4 photo paper (for printing digital photos) sold cheap in supermarkets is actually a pretty good drawing surface.

#
really, I thought colour pencils and/or pencils would slip rather :?
(, Thu 29 Aug 2013, 2:20, archived)
# Fair point,
The paper does have to have a little bit to it to put the wax down. Might give it a try, though (if I ever get the time to draw again).
(, Thu 29 Aug 2013, 2:21, archived)
#
alternatively, the back of old wallpaper does offer some good purchase, for pastels. But for pencil work I would recommend some nice heavy paper. The best comes from Italy, but is quite pricey.
(, Thu 29 Aug 2013, 2:24, archived)
# No, it's pretty great. The matt kind.
Though one aspect of this greatness is the cheapness, I admit.
(, Thu 29 Aug 2013, 2:24, archived)

# You seem to enjoy a very theatrical sort of authenticity
what with this and the ballpoints with blue feathers stuck in them and such. Which is fine, I'm glad your mind is untroubled by the falseness of it all. Real quills would have had the barbs shaved off, though, and would only have been good for writing on actual parchment (less abrasive). If you get anxious, I encourage you to go out and skin a young goat.

# yeah, cut your own nibs, sandy, you big faker.
(, Thu 29 Aug 2013, 2:37, archived)
# Well the fakeness has a certain appeal, the more I think about it.
I mean no amount of authentic equipment is going to cause actual time travel to 1820, or whatever golden age of poetry Sandy is trying to emulate. Perhaps it's better done lazily.

#
why the fuck would I put a ballpoint pen in a feather??
(, Thu 29 Aug 2013, 2:19, archived)

I was looking for a 17th century oil painting earlier, perhaps the Flemish school, of hell and judgement. You know, crowds of people in semi-darkness, fire and that. Looked like a rave from the 90s. This week's vote excitement has been unleashed.

Your choices are:

From the board:

make it smaller in width and height and use an html width= tag to enlarge it
You've got an unnecessary number of frames, cull every other one and then double each remaining frame duration.
Finally save it with a reduced colour palette to shave off a few more K.

If the end result is a mess and you really want people to see the original, simply put it as a link as I have done for yours.

(Edit: according to the mighty Wikipedia you're looking more at sulphur dichloride being a major ingredient than sulphur dioxide -- apparently each molecule is made up of two blocks of chlorine bound to two carbon dihydrodide (whatever the fuck that's called, I last did chemistry in 1996 for fuck's sake - Wikipedia tells me methylene is a beautifully ambiguous name for it), each bound to a sulphur. Or something.)

activates the ethylenes, which in turn rapidly shift off the chlorines, allowing it to crosslink your DNA. Incidentally, that's also the source of its anticancer ability.
