Not a fucking clue
Sandwich, roll, bap, breadcake, whatever the fuck I want to call it.
I live in Leeds and have done for years, and haven't found a consensus. Breadcake I think. (But my folks are from Hull and Leicester so I've been saying bap and cob for long enough).
If I go to a sandwich shop, I ask for the contents, it's naturally assumed it will arrive in a form of bread.

depends upon the bread.
That in your picture is a crusty cob. If it were on a soft roll then roll, bun, bap or barmcake. If it's on a quarter French stick then a Vienna unless it's on a baguette where of course it's called a baguette. It could be on ciabatta too. Usually it's a cheese roll though.
Unless I was ordering it where it would be called ham salad on white barm, extra onions, English mustard and no mayo. Or cheese.

Eh?
" If it's on a quarter French stick then a Vienna " - that don't even make sense. Vienna is in Austria. So is Austria 25% of a France? Yet they speak German. Or is it something to do with Ultravox? I'm confused.

look, I don't make the rules.
That's just what my local sandwich shop says when you order. "On a roll or a Vienna"? The Vienna turns out to be a portion of Frnch stick, the soft sort. I don't know where the bread comes from to be fair. I doubt prophylactics are made in France either.

I keep thinking how funny
it would be if everyone posted their pics on the main board too big for the FP ...for a few weeks ...or months... just slighly over , like 411 pixels, just wide enough to cause maximum frustration for the mods. so tantilisingly close but not narrow enough pfffft
