That's the bugger that's responsible for me actually WANTING to see Happening
I saw it on a cable channel the other day and the ad breaks kept going on about Happening and showing clips from MNS talking about it.
Day after tomorrow was a reasonably good film, enjoyable, just a piss poor ending and unbearably ridiculous with the whole 'I'll survive things I'm telling everyone else you can't survive, just so I can go and 'get' my son who is no more or less safe with me there' thing

well...
sixth sense was a one-trick-pony, with a twist I saw a mile off, signs was one of the most flawed movies I've ever seen, the one where Bruce Willis is a superhero thing, was only good for the scene where his son pulls a gun on him, but Village was quite good. I figured MNS was on the way up.... :P

the only good bit in signs was the creepy mexican alien
and that wasn't that good. The Village was ok, and I did like Unbreakable, but thats probably because I'm a big superhero nerd.
I do love all the shots of waving trees in The Happening though...it's just a shame theres no "What a twist!"

I should add, these are possibly the only anime where the English dub is better than the subtitled version.
Although with Akira they did a newer English dub for the DVD which they sort of did seriously, instead of having the hilarious shouting in the original 1980s VHS dub which ruined the DVD in my opinion.
Also, Samurai Champloo is quite good for an anime. But Akira and Cowboy Bebop I hold up as actually being good, not just as anime but as actual film/television series. Most other anime is just irritating, bland and formulaic.

It's deceptively simple.
I put all the detail into the single black layer. Then I did the shadow (two/three layers - this one was three) Add the hair underneath, then make some of it lighter and more saturated, some lighter and less saturated, then darker and saturated, darker and unsaturated. That gives the hair a more detailed effect. Then the eyes, which is a few similarly colours shapes, I play around with the blending modes until it looks right. Then the skin, a single skin tone. Add the lips, which are also pretty simple. Then a lighter layer. Do the clothes like I described the hair. Accessories are pretty simple, too.
It's rarely boring, it's like a little adventure :D
The thing I find is that it's not the colours that change, it's the shade, meaning you can have very few colours, and lots of different shades of those colours. It looks a bit more natural then. Yes, I only just figured that out.
Start with a plane (no pun intended) object. Fold it, make a couple of cuts and that's when I start running into problems. It makes polygons in weird places and causes that moth-eaten appearance.
I'll work it out eventually.
