you can bet your arse they will be built on time
aside from the £9billion allocated for it, you can bet there's a reserve of at least a third extra to fund *emergency works* nearer the time to make sure it's built on time. After all, it's only got to stay up for two weeks without scaffolding, and you'd be suprised how resiliant blu-tack and gaffer tape is

The last three things that have been built by this country that I can bring to mind
are Wembley Stadium that was a couple of years late and a few million over budget, the Millenium Dome of which the less said about it the better, and the Millenium bridge which had to be shut 2 days after it opened due to excessive swaying
(
Furness ,
Mon 16 Jun 2008, 15:46,

all of those are 'in-country' buildings mainly for the benefit of keeping us brits cynical.
the olympic stadium is a world-wide showcase, where we HAVE to get it built on time to (for want of a better phrase) 'show off' to other countries, and to give them somewhere to stay and perform when they get here. There will be money flying our left, right and centre nearer the time to make sure it gets done.

I'm a comfy trainers kind of gal and I wear them until they're very dead, then a bit longer until I can be bothered to find a replacement I do have a definite thing for boots/nice shoes, but that's for very rare wear and don't see it being anything like this odd obsession most women seem to have with fashion. I don't like fashionable shoes as a rule, I just like unusual and sexy footwear.

I get a call out of the blue saying 'hi, I heard you were clever and from Oxford - I have £300 quid for you if you can translate Beowulf into text messages' Me: 'you do know its the length of a large novel?' PR:' oh... erm one minute' *pause* PR: 'can you just cut all the boring bits out?' Me: 'Most of it is quite boring' PR: 'We don't need very much - can you get it to us by the end of the week' took about 2 hours
