I ain't talking about racism.
I hate racism as much as anyone, but, this is the thin end of the wedge. If you can get imprisoned for your thoughts or writings then we're all fucked.
Maybe I should be racist to you, see how you like it? Hmmm?

Calling someone a twat and calling someone a n*gga are entirely different things really
Anyone can be called a twat or a dickhead. But you can't accurately call a white dude or an asian dude a term derogatory used towards black people in the same way you can't a black dude or a white dude a term used derogatorily against asians.

... I did consider whether jail was the correct option, he'll just be in there with a bunch of other right wing EDL nut jobs. Why don't we re-educate him with a 'race awareness course' in the same way as we make bad drivers take a refresher course before they get their licence back, or send drug offenders to re-hab clinics?
keeps him off the streets and stops him polluting the gene pool further.
I'm i'm sure they'll be some people in prison who will be more than happy to give him a 'race awreness course'. With hitting.

Actually
the most surprising thing is if you look at the genetics you find we've been roughly the same thing all along, and that both the "Saxon" "invasions" and the nature of "Celts" in particular are a bit specious...
...but a little bit of it might go in. I guess I'm just trying to say that finding and jailing people who use racist language on twitter isn't exactly dealing with the problem of race relations in Britain. Such views are entrenched deeply in society and making a victim of someone with those views will only serve to solidify the position of those others who hold similar views.
but the Magna Carta didn't actually guarantee free speech in the first place, did it?
[edit] In 1275, Parliament outlawed "any slanderous News ... or false news or tales where by discord or slander may grow between the King and the people ..."

More accurately, the gravestone would read:

Then at the bottom: * except threatening, abusive and insulting speech or behaviour likely to cause a breach of the peace, incitement, incitement to racial hatred, incitement to religious hatred, incitement to terrorism including encouragement of terrorism and dissemination of terrorist publications, glorifying terrorism, collection or possession of information likely to be of use to a terrorist, treason including imagining the death of the monarch, sedition, obscenity, indecency including corruption of public morals and outraging public decency, defamation, prior restraint, restrictions on court reporting including names of victims and evidence and prejudicing or interfering with court proceedings, prohibition of post-trial interviews with jurors, scandalizing the court by criticising or murmuring judges, time, manner, and place restrictions, harassment, privileged communications, trade secrets, classified material, copyright, patents, military conduct, and limitations on commercial speech such as advertising.

This is true enough.
I work in a shopping centre in a CeX store. There are 3 Game stores and 1 Gamestation within 5 minutes walk of each other.
Absurd.
Some people I know are saying things like "well, it's good business for us". While possibly true, I still feel awful for the folks who are going to be out of work.
I reckon HMV will be the next big loser of the recession.
Yeah I don't get why everyone is up in arms now. They used to fuck customers over a barrel. They'd fuck them with new game prices, they'd fuck them at trade-in, they'd fuck them with second hand prices. It was rare indeed I'd buy in GAME and it became rarer with the realisation that the same game could be purchased on line for substantially less.
I think if they'd cut their stores down, hedged their bets with a proper online web store (not offering the same shitty deals as their shops), and a proper digital download service they might have been in a better place.
As it is they're just one more failed business. I'm more sorry to see Woolworths go which seemed to try a lot harder on price but was screwed by their own supply chain (as was Zavvi).
(reali'm not happy 'til you're not happy,

I likey that alot :D
Was speaking to the guys in our "local" Game yesterday; they survived the cut but Gamestation's gone and Game has been considerably downsized. There again, if you at one point have 5 stores in one city (Swansea had 4 Game stores running and a Gamestation) it's going to struggle a bit.
Plus I knew the manager of one of the Gamestation branches, a complete cunt. Might throw a bottle of piss on him while he waits at the job centre :D
