Thom sketch
Im doing a tutorial for a book about how i made my 3D Thom caricature. They need a sketch to show the initial development. Ive not drawn for years (literally) and this was a massive confidence boost, cos im chuffed with it considering i spent about 1.5 hours on it.
Photo ref used, but not traced on or nuffing.
The 3d one
Kinda wished i bothered to sketch it out first, because now i can see where i could have improved the 3d one - namely the hair shape. Bah.

of vehicles. It's just a snapshot of what people think they can get away with. As I say, why pay for something like that at a hugely inflated price based on nostalgia when the vehicle that will outlast them all happens to be a Toyota.

The fact remains that when your land rover falls to bits you can throw it all in tha back of a 30 year old hi lux and drag it to the quarry for dumping. I've seen this before and said then it's fantastic.
There are a few people out there doing things with Maya and 3dsmax that i just cant get my head around yet. I'm just a bit confused as to why you have to do a development sketch now for a book that shows your process if it was not part of the process? Or is it not that kind of book ( tutorial )
And I'm with you actually, bollocks to the preparation, let's dive in and see what comes out the other end.
(Pasanonic's been known to cause insanity in laboratory mice,

Well
i posted my work in progress pics and wireframes from the 3d development, and they said they need 1 more pic to fill the article. The publisher said that sketches always look really good in print, so she suggested i do one. I did, and i can see the bits on the 3d one that dont work X1000. Oh well - live and learn.
I maintain I have far less talent than most peeps on these boards,
I merely possess a shed load of patience and time. A few good references and a willingness to change hours of work are usually pretty helpful too.
That and a copy of illustrator.

....I have PS but find it a bit daunting (as in I know what I want to do, but just can't seem to relay that to the program (not PS problem, mine for being lazy!). Might try to locate (ahem) a copy of illustrator then.
A very powerful program, it is. Has some odd quirks that will catch you out if you treat it like photoshop.
Everything in my profile (apart the digii painting in Potato-Shop at the bottom) is me fiddling around and learning who to use illustrator in the last week, so it can't be that hard.
