Norman Stanley Fletcher,
you have pleaded guilty to the charges brought by this court and it is now my duty to pass sentence. You are an habitual criminal who accepts arrest as an occupational hazard and presumably accepts imprisonment in the same casual manner. I therefore feel constrained to sentence you to the maximum term allowed for these offences. You will go to Fulton Towers for five years.

Photoshop for preference
but if you can be arsed to get to get to grips with gimp it's not too bad, and free. Just very user unfriendly.

gimp works fine for me
it seemed reasonably intuitative, but ive never used photoshop to compare, and gimp is definately very easy for making aminated gifs

I haven't bothered getting to grips with the animation lark in gimp
but it does me okay at work for making pics. It's just if I was doing them in Photoshop I know they'd take half the time.

its extreemly simple
each frame as a layer in layer name, add "(Xms)" where X is number of milliseconds for that frame to show save as gif, and select the save as animation bit done filters-animation -playback for preview before you save
