Hello all,
Sorry to have to share the bad news with you, but our lovely Pcmechanic lost his fight against liver disease on Friday May 3rd.
He loved this place very much and found great strength and solace in the banter and the laughs, and in your kind words at a very difficult time.
After and a long and arduous struggle he always held out hope and positivity, through many dark hours he kept a sense of humour about him which wasn’t only admirable, but inspirational.
Many people here will have noticed his absence in recent months. For the relatively few posts he made he came across with an an impact, warmth, and a strength of character that is rare amongst non prolific posters. He would read /links daily even if he didn’t post.
He has been through a very long term and painful illness, (previous threads posted by Skelly have tried to keep you in the loop) he read the responses to those threads and they helped to give him strength. He certainly appreciated each and every one of them, even though he was was unable to respond to each one, no matter how much he would have liked to.
Our thoughts now turn to the family he left behind. His wife who has stood by him and been so strong, and to his children who have just lost their Dad, and their Step-Dad. He was a family man, and in the passage of time when the pain of his loss subsides, will have fond memories of a man who played an important part in their lives, through love, nurture, and warmth.
He loved this kind of music, and we felt it was a fitting tribute. Please feel free to add your wishes below, we will pass them onto his family with love from our b3ta family.

Sorry to tell you mate, but he wasn't an alchy, it wasn't self inflicted, congenital disease.
Edit: he just had a weak liver, something genetic about it, it ran in the family, he had to have both femurs replaced recently, but he was unable to be anaesthetised because his body couldn't cope with it, it was 50/50 he would make it then.
Edit edit: Yes this is a comedy site, the above comment was unwarrented in a thread such as this. ^SEE ABOVE IF YOU ARE THINKING OF JUMPING TO CONCLUSIONS. Thanks Mod.

Cancer can also be a blessing in that it brings people together and helps you focus on what is real in this life. We all have tough things in life, and we'll all endure - it's how we endure that makes the difference.

And if, God forbid, Light In Chains gets cancer or a life limiting disease I'll bet he'll die whining and whimpering 'cos that's what cunts do.

That means alot to his family I am sure though, I think our thoughts and tributes are enough. x
Edit: you can always donate to a cancer charity

Thanks for letting us know...
that's got to be the shittiest duty that can fall on a person. I can't think of anything inspirational or suitably joking-yet-meaningful to say.
My thoughts are with all those Betans who knew PC, another sad loss.

Great words and a grand choice of music - it's just a pity that this 'obituary' has to exist. Thoughts with the family at this time.

No young family deserves to lose their Dad. My thoughts go with his wife and kids.
It takes a brave man to fight that hard.

I've enjoyed you lot for ages; but only joined recently. In all that time his stuff was uncompromisingly upbeat and respectful.
Death is always horrible, but the support of those you value can be a massive help for the people left behind.
Well done B3tards.

Stop dying, you utter bastards!
I'm sure he didn't go down without a fight, though. I'd have loved to see his epic shank-battle with death. I bet death's got a wicked scar, at the very least.

He seemed like a lovely bloke, bit stabby, but who isn't these days?
Really sad to hear of his passing.

Fucks sake. Rest in peace Stabby. I'm raising a glass to you right now.
I always thought we'd meet up at a bash at some point down the line, and we'd fill the jukebox with pound coins and teach everyone about Devin Townsend.

My thoughts go out to everyone who knew him, and to everyone who wanted to.

Now, I know what living with long term illness is like but...
having to deal with everything he did is something I can't comprehend. I hope, if things ever got really rubbish, that I could deal with it in the same manner; with good humour, positivity and warmth.
All the best, old boy.

Very sad news and RIP Pcmechanic - take it easy up there dude.
his initial (stabby) posts and then his updates from hospital made me laugh, as he was obviously a good guy with a great sense of humour despite what he was going through. I thought about some of his later posts a lot and they put a real perspective on what were trivial medical problems I was having at the time compared to what he was enduring.
top man and my thoughts are with his family
thank you Herbs, Miss F and Skelts too for being the bearers of bad news, glad he didn't just stop posting and no one knew what had happened, as per all above comments he was a good guy and sure he would be smiling now reading this thread full of internet strangers who just liked what he did, as that is what b3ta is and he is now a legendary b3tan

I don't come here enough any more, fnaar, but sad news.
I also just realised that my 10 year anniversary as a b3ta member is tomorrow, which doesn't even seem possible. 10 years as a member of something online. Fuck.
Condolences to Pcmechanic's team of friends and family. RIP.
