I find the idea of exploring new ways to interact with games
to be infinitely more interesting than the same button mashing we have endured for 20 years. Good graphics can only do so much for a game.
(

yeah but some of it is so horrible
I rented Soul Calibur Legends the other day. You use the remote to stab forward, slash left, slash right, and a couple similar moves. It works. about 80% of the time. When you have a game like that where you're trying to do quick actions in a row, it gets kind of frustrating when you can't do things consistently. Manhunt2 is pretty cool though.

Until Sony and Microsoft
realise that they have gone as far as it is possible to go with just concentrating on graphics and that it is time they researched new ways for the player to experience and interract with the game, and consequently find that Nintendo are years ahead of them in their research because they chose to take this path now. I believe the future of console gaming lies with the Wii in the long term, not with the Xbox or PS. EDIT: For the record though, I don't own a console at all. Make of that what you will.

in a weeks time the shops will be flooded with Wii's
it's all a big marketing play. they will also have 4 shit games bundled with them and cost the same as a PS3. wait a minute, that what's hapopening now.

I love how people complain about the price of a PS3
if you add up the cost of a Wii, the extra nunchuks, the gold controller, the tennis controller, the platform to stand on, the gun controller and so forth, you soon realise that Nintendo are the rip off merchants laughing all the way to the bank. Especially as shops get minimum profits from hardware, they only cream off the cash on software which is why shops have to do the bundles to break even and Ninteno laugh even harder because the games are so low quality and shite that they cost tuppence h'appeny to make. FACT!
(

indeed, a point i was making
you can't buy the wii in anything but bundles at the moment, raising the initial point of nintendo setting a low price point to make it attractive to those who don't want ot spend out on 360 or PS3.
(

The bundles are third party
nintendo dont ship the console in the bundle, a company like Game or Gamestation simply puts them in job lots. I got my Wii from Game, in a bundle, then promptly returned 3 of the 4 games for face value as unwanted. Job done. However i do agree sort of with your point. They should have consoles avaliable at 179 as well as fandangly bundles. As for the expensive hardware, you can tot up the totals for PS3 accessories int he same way. Every major console manufacturer is doing this, to single nintendo out as the only one is ludicrous. The point is nintendo are once again the innovaters of the gaming world, something Sony and Microsoft should take heed of. You can put all the accelerated chips int he world into a console, but you cant make it drink....or something.

Not exactly true
You can play all the wii games without the extra accessories. And as the wiimote already has all the functionality in it, the addons aren't replacements for it, just plastic shells to slide it in to. I think I saw a set of 5 different ones for 15 quid or so. The Wii Zapper is (or will be, dont have my wii anymore) included in whatever gun game came out around the same time. On the other hand, extra accessories for the ps2/ps3 (guitar hero, ddr, those quiz games, etc) are all very expensive.

Actually
Nintendo force the shops to purchase the console with a quantity of games, they can't just buy the consoles alone. The bundles are the shops way of trying to ensure they aren't stuck with a stupid amount of nintendo games in stock. The same strategy is being followed with the DS as well as the Wii

I thinkt he total cost of the day itself with all the signing, photos, toasts etc etc is about 3k in euros, which is what, about two grand. Which if you compare to the UK is great. With the added bonus of me being able to say no to inviting her side of the family who are redshites.
