I just got back from PC World. There was a woman outside in a trailer selling food. It had the playboy bunnies on the sign and was called "Jodi's Baps". It said "Sweets 'n' Treats" and "Bites to eat" on it. But she spelled "to" wrong.
I have a photo somewhere of one of those Ronald models
sat on a bench outside a McDonalds in Guangzhou (south China), with local kids climbing on it in their kind of old looking clothes, and a grumpy old person glaring at me whilst sat down for a second. I can't help but feel I'm indulging in being a wee bit pretentious, but it just strikes me as an odd and intriguing image with the contrast
What do people use for pressure sensitive stuff? I got something called artrage, which seems a bit rubbish. Am off to fiddle with the gimp and will probably buy photoshop elements when it is properly native for mac.

Fuckin Fucking Fucking Fail
I know none of you care but I've been trying to put together a digital portfolio of work in my spare time so that I can leave my shitty dead-end job that saps away all my creative energy and leaves me like a shriveled impotent oldman's cock
I spent several hours of my free time learning how to do this
So delighted with my hard work was I that I thought I'd post it on b3ta I saved my image as a new file in low res so I could post it here. Somewhere along the line, I got muddled as to which I was working from and hit 'save' rather than 'save as'
this is all I have to show for hours of work
I hope you enjoy it, I'm going to go and jump off a bridge now to avoid going to work tomorrow morning.
as I work and when it comes to publish I simply avoid the save button and use the 'save for web and devices' function. That way your work and web images are never the same pieces and you can't lose your work. I know it just sounds like a load of old wank in hindsight but it is standard practice if you want to go into that kind of work. "I pressed the wrong save" is no excuse for missing a deadline ;)
(Pasanonic's been known to cause insanity in laboratory mice,

It never occured to me that I might do something that stupid
I'll start a new routine for my next image
although I think I'll have a little wank and cry first
although i'm told i managed to more or less delete word and all that went with it, and at the time i only had a floppy drive so saving stuff and getting stuff printed was a mare. if i wanted to write i'd have done english not an art degree.

do you not even have the line art
saved? If so I can re-ink it and blow it up massive for you if you fancied the colouring again. There can't be more than an hours work in it now you know the technique.
(Pasanonic's been known to cause insanity in laboratory mice,

as luck would have it
I did all my digital inking in illustrator so that is safe
I'm a bad hand at line art - it was the coloring I was trying to learn
I guess I could do it again sometime, and in all fairness this project was pretty arbitrary, it was just about teaching myself the techniques
that you buy as many of the tutorials as you can afford from here www.digitalarttutorials.com/ Brian Haberlin is probably at the top of that game. If you can only afford one then get either the comic book style or the smudge painting style, It will transform how you approach this stuff. This was the first piece I made when I was learning digital rendering 2D and thanks to the tutorial it did not turn out too bad. zootcadillac.deviantart.com/art/Apocalyptic-Rhino-59995837

Oh believe me, what I've just wrote in no way reflects the way I actually deal with it
what's written above is pretty much what my friends keep saying to me. I'm....getting there, but am still quite affected in my free time. But I know it's not the way it should be.

It may not be the right forum but some people really do see this place like a bit of a twisted community. I've met some of my best friends on here. Hell, someone that is turning out to be nothing less than a soul mate (should I give in and buy into such ridiculous concepts) I first spoke to on here.
The rules are a bit odd, basically because there aren't any! but I'd struggle to be my often careless self in the face of what I suspected to be genuine 'real life' issues.
I was worried about the motivation and discipline thing, but it is suprisingly easy to get around - I find now the worst thing is not knowing when to 'switch off'

When you saved by mistake, did you try going back up the history to before you flattened and changed the image size? It should have let you go back and save again, so long as you havent closed the image after.
And I guess that if you use export rather than save, you'll have less of a problem going back in history and all that.

Right, cheers Pas
Elder son (artist) has commission to paint a mural on the disco wall of a local pub, which will sometimes be lit by blacklight or UV. He wants to scan photos of his line drawings and sketches into Photoshop and apply some kind of an effect which will reveal what the might look like under such lighting conditions.... if you see what I mean
(Ptolemythe man with the silent pea,

may be simpler (better) ways
but i'd do two layers, one of which was the "UV" layer, the other the normal, and just play about with the light levels on the two layers.

(Ptolemythe man with the silent pea,

sorry I was late getting back
yeah seems pretty simple. Have a layer over the top, fill it with black and change to screen mode ( black and screen make for much better glints and lights ) make selections of the 'light' with a suitable feather then fill with the colour you need, add a diffuse blur. Then use the layer properties to add glow to it playing with the colours. Do each one on a separate layer so you can alter the strengths to give depth. if they still look flat you can run a soft airbrush in dodge mode down the centre of the lights to change the values a little. If you have any problem at all making it look good enough then please don't hesitate to send me the files with some colour instruction and I'd be happy to provide my interpretation of it. It sounds important enough to get right.
