Disturbed have a couple of good songs
I wouldn't listen to just them though, same with Lordi

I agree about SoulFly live, saw them at OzzFest a few years ago.

(, Mon 18 May 2009, 12:45, archived)
It's not Gojira as such,
it's just a lot of that sort of music does absolutely nothing for me.

Strapping Young Lad... now there's a band who does that sort of thing properly.

Seeing Till on fire with lasers coming out of his chest whilst flake crowd surfed in a boat has not been topped by any other live act yet.
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 12:41, archived)
It was the wanking off a giant dildo sticking out of his trousers and humping the keyboardist with it.
Till eventually he "spunked" over the crowd for a full minute. (I'm guessing it had a hose connected). That sticks in my mind.

The flares shot over the crowd.
The Guitarists mic stands on fire.
His flaming coat.
Etc Etc.
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 12:43, archived)
haha, yeah
The crowd were so hot from the pyrotechnics that people were actively trying to get in the stream of water issuing from his giant member.

A german girl I used to know saw them years and years ago. Apparently they used to smash lit flourescent lights over each other.

Three hours of unspeakable dullness.

Starting tomorrow morning, I'll be spending 3 hours a day in the library, and 3 hours in my revision office (read "kitchen").
I've planned 33 hours of revision for one module and 32 for another. they're both double modules and probably the most important exams I'll ever take (literally, if I do bad, no Ph.D)
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 10:23, archived)
I'm realising I should have done more revision for this one.
It is 100% exam based, no coursework to save me if I cock up in the exam.

Good luck with your exam today though.

On a similar note, regarding "Orko" from the He-Man cartoons
The character was named Gorpo in the early original series drafts, but he was renamed Orko for animation purposes; Filmation artists often flipped the character cels, a technique that works best when the characters are symmetrical in design, and putting a "G" on Orko's shirt would have complicated the process because the letter G is not a symmetrical shape.

Mainly because of the first, self-titled album.
It was such a rough, strange collection, and ran the whole gamut from quiet, creepy barely-music that had obviously been recorded at 3am in a dismal tenement ("Music Like Escaping Gas") to complex hi-tech proto-jungle masterpieces that startle even today ("24 Track Loop").

After the subsequent maxi-single ("Health and Efficiency") and their signing to Rough Trade, things went downhill rapidly - that gig is from their twilight.

I suppose it was an unfair clip to use, but seriously those guys must have been so off thier faces
