Hello, JMG etc.
Who'd like to unleash some chubby rage?
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 20:58, archived)
There's an advert of milkybars on my TV.
This somehow a plot by you to make me fat so you can mock me.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 20:59, archived)
I used to have white blonde hair as a child.
I used to get called The Milky Bar Kid at school.
I didn't wear glasses, as you can quite imagine, I took it all in good spirits and was a hoot and a riot with the women.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 21:01, archived)
*raptuous applause*

(, Mon 25 May 2009, 21:03, archived)
We're considering changing the name of "Newcastle United" to "Your Cup Final" for next season.

(, Mon 25 May 2009, 21:04, archived)
How about "Champions Elect if we play our cards right"

(, Mon 25 May 2009, 21:21, archived)
I don't know who's going to be left to field in the first eleven..
:(
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 21:35, archived)
Back Shola for top scorer

(, Mon 25 May 2009, 21:39, archived)
As much as I've backed The Fenham Eusebio over the years, I feel his time may have come.
Should cost-cutting come in to serious effect in order to keep others, Shola must be sacrificed.
Not physically. Just, sold.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 21:41, archived)
Nobody will buy him.
He'll be a decent championship player.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 21:42, archived)
He was awful on loan at Stoke!
Oh I just hope we can bounce straight back up.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 21:43, archived)
That's true.
I'm not so hopeful.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 21:46, archived)

(, Mon 25 May 2009, 21:40, archived)
THANK FUCK

There's nothing quite like a bit of JMG late on a Bank Holiday.
/talk was no doubt moments away from a post about your favourite Middle Eastern nation, or something.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 21:03, archived)
A most excellent time to grace the internet with your presence
How has your bank holiday been so far?
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 21:04, archived)
Mainly hungover.
Then it all became better around 11am.

Since then I have watched the FOOTBALL and debated THEORIES with fellow Geordies.
I was correct throughout.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 21:06, archived)
Excellent news JMG

(, Mon 25 May 2009, 21:06, archived)
You weren't correct when you said you thought Newcastle were going to stay up.
You weren't correct about that, JMG, peace be upon him.

A week and a year ago I gave up drinking.

The not smoking thing isn't bothering me but tonight I could really do with going for a pint. Fucking cunt.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 21:39, archived)
I hear you.
I skimmed the edge of the Bigg Market last night. Usually not my place.
Too many tight-sweaters for my liking.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 21:43, archived)
I used to work in Fleet Street
which is on the lane between Revolution and the Bigg Market. I love the pub to bits but by god I've had my lifetimes worth of the bigg market crowd.

Fleet street, is a heaving flesh pit on a saturday night.
It's quite nice during the day though.

What are you giving up next year?

(, Mon 25 May 2009, 21:43, archived)
Not sure.
Sleeping or being poor. Or possibly being angry, I'm angry far too much these days. I can't help but think a couple of pints would chill me the fuck out.

Fun loving is one of those hidden meanings like bubbly.
Fun loving means you are probably dull as fuck. Bubbly means you are fat, annoying and possibly stupid.

Not that i'm a cynic, i'm fun loving(criminal).
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 20:45, archived)
Fun loving = irresponsible.
The sort of person you wouldn't trust to post an important letter for you.

The heat stays in your skin otherwise and continues to burn you. If you sort it out quickly you can stop it before it burns properly.

i have to go out in the sun in a minute and i'm worried i might get a tan
not necessarily a bad thing.. only i have a shaggy beard that i will be shaving off either tonight or tomorrow morning
will i get a two toned face?
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 14:47, archived)
apply sun block to everywhere on your face and neck
then shave off the beard

and tan yourself to manlyness
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 14:49, archived)
Or use fake tan after shaving to evn things up.

(, Mon 25 May 2009, 14:56, archived)
yeah.. that would definetly work
do they do lobster fake tan?

I'd like your advice, and also a plug for the b3ta book group I'm trying to set up.
Can you help?

None
I'm going to keep the suggestion list as broad as possible - basically, anything you would like to read, or have read and would like to talk about.
All recommendations welcomed.

Dear Baldmonkey,
Back in january, I lent a mate £100 who was going through a bit of a rough patch with his family (wife and 3 kids)
Wife has severe anorexia, and wasn't able to continue her job, and he has a full time job as a teacher. All 3 kids are 7 or younger
I was told I would get the money back in March, when they got back from a 'much needed and pre-booked' Holiday to Eurodisney. In the time since March though, his mother in law has now developed terminal lung cancer, and the father in law also had a cancer scare last month. The wife in all of this has also been hospitalized recently due to the anorexia, levaing my mate with a full time teaching job (albeit extensive paid leave) and 3 kids to look after. She is now out of hospital and has a part time job at.. wait for it... Macdonalds. My question is this: How much of a c*nt will I look if I ask for the £100 back now, which he assured me would be mine back in March? It's The Present Mrs. Architect's Birthday shortly, and I'd like that £100 to put towards a nice long weekend away for the two of us, as we could do with a holiday too.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 15:15, archived)
I wouldn't ask for it back just yet, to be honest
as a rule, if I lend money to friends I don't expect it back.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 15:16, archived)
In other words, I'll look a HUGE C*nt then.
/as a rule, I don't lend money to mates or otherwise, but given the fact there were 3 young chiddlers to support in all of this, I felt obliged to help
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 15:17, archived)
yup.

(, Mon 25 May 2009, 15:18, archived)
I must admit

What's your Top Tip for making sure that your bivvy does not develop mildew in this period of non-use?

(, Mon 25 May 2009, 11:14, archived)
I always leave my tents out for a day in the sun before they get packed away.
Also if you spray it with a mildly salty water and let it dry it stops any bacterial growth.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 11:16, archived)
it always goes away dry normally, or if wet i will dry it when i get home, to be honest mildew on an aqua m3 would be rare, it beads to well

I'm no expert on Bivvies as such, but I know a fair bit about tents in general and I'd recommend storing it in the loft, fully erect.

I had a cup of tea while polishing my car
so that was exciting.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 10:41, archived)
I'm about to eat a tea.
I'm currently a bit depressed that I spent £130 last night. Spending £130 is about the only thing I remember.

I NOW DON'T FEEL HUNGOVER.
*Official stance*

*Firm handshakes all round*
Who'd like to fall out with me now at high speed?
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:30, archived)
How did you cause your hangover to disappear so quickly?
I call JMG fatty-baiting.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:32, archived)
I'm incredibly good at all those things, there.

(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:34, archived)
Congratulations.
The joy of overcoming a hangover is pretty much second to none.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:32, archived)
I'm almost approaching full power.
There'll be some moaning, complaining and tearful falling out in no time at all.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:35, archived)
Normal service will be resumed shortly.

(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:36, archived)
Me please.
I haven't replied to you for a while. Were you at the football yesterday, or do you not travel for away games?
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:32, archived)
As we all know. JMG is a visitor to many of this country's fine and shit footballing stadia.
Some times I, JMG am championed as much as the home side by these fans.
Alas however I was not in Birmingham yesterday as on previous visits I've found the whole experience to be depressing.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:36, archived)
I'm not a huge fan of the midlands as a whole.
Which has upset folk in the past.

Yorkshire I have less respect for. All of it asides RR.

The experience of Birmingham
or the experience of being relegated?
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:37, archived)
OHH AL!
:(
That really is quite poor.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:39, archived)
I'm now going to make a cutting response
making reference to the fact that "quite poor" could also be representative of your form this season.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:43, archived)
You use the term "your" like this has nothing to do with you.
:(
I really think you should start using a different username.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:44, archived)
Having never really been a supporter of Newcastle
I think the term "your" is probably suitable. It's nothing personal, as a football club, I rather like them and the passionate support, it's the piss poor management that makes me chuckle. That and the continued support for Joey Barton.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:47, archived)
"Al Isn't a Geordie" perhaps.
Did you watch the game, yesterday?
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:48, archived)
I went to Birmingham once.
Not for football but to pick up a car.

You are right, it was quite a depressing place.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:38, archived)
I was very :( about the whole experience.
In spite of winning with ten men.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:40, archived)
I used to go and pick up cars that were being transferred between BMW dealerships.
Sweet job but I had to go to some pretty rubbish places.

That said i'm moving to the midlands next year from 'daaahn saaaff'.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:44, archived)
Best stock up on anti-depressants.

I heard the sun never shines there.
I'm going to be in Loughborough, it is only for a year though.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:46, archived)
It'll feel like 3 years.
You'll want to find out what you did to deserve such a fate.
Chin up though. See yourself as an almost U.N. peace-keeper.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:47, archived)
I like that idea.
I'm only going so I can get an MSc under my belt and hopefully find a job.

There is a woeful lack of jobs for science graduates at the moment.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:50, archived)
JMG, I live in Loughborough.
It's fantastic. Don't insult it :(
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 10:00, archived)
I'm going to viciously attack you, JMG
with the prior intent of publicising my book group, ONLINE.

There's a few of us would like to appreciate some literary endeavour. Anyone interested?
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:37, archived)
I recommend a glass of scotch and the GMoS annual.

(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:41, archived)
I wholeheartedly applaud your application of Scotch.
It is necessary when reading in the evening.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:45, archived)
GMoS is one of the first subjects we shall cover
as he is entirely awesome.
I'd put you on the reading list, JMG, but I fear you'd blow my CPU.

More tidying today. I did some ironing at half three this morning.

There is not an English fan who is happy with Howard Webb.
If he gives a shit decision in the favour of your team one week, chances are next time he referees he'll be shit for you.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 10:04, archived)
I meant to write that down below,
obviously.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 10:05, archived)

JMG, although I was unfair about Newcastle recently,
I was right that none of the 4 teams would get points.

If only Howard Webb had have given our goal against Fulham we'd be up and you might be in Europe next season.

Hangover.

Fat tips?
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 8:48, archived)
Have a Bloody Mary
with plenty of Tabasco.
It will make you feel better.
Remember to include pepper and celery.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 8:50, archived)
eat some Maccas?
That'll getcha putting on the kgs.....

Otherwise Powerade and water for the hangover. No paracaetamol though - you'll start hurling.

Tea
And toast and bacon

(, Mon 25 May 2009, 8:53, archived)
I've already hammered up some shelves.

(, Mon 25 May 2009, 8:55, archived)
That's a good start
Then get out in the garden and do some digging or hedge trimming. Power tools will cure hangovers.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 8:59, archived)
This is my hangover cure.
Buckets of tea bacon and fried egg sarnie, then get on with the day in hand. Oh and also, have a shower and the all important hangover poo.

You feel much better for getting on with stuff rather than wallowing.

I approve of this sort of carry-on
best of luck with getting back up next season.
Shearer will be good for the club, it'll be fine.

(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:07, archived)
I read a lot
it was mentioned in a book somewhere

well, it was in "Thud!" by Terry Pratchett
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:09, archived)
I don't read much Pratchett - but I see you folks mention him a lot.
I do read a lot though. Am currently reading "Red Victory" by W Bruce Lincoln and using Jonathon Strange and Mr Norrel as light bed time reading.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:12, archived)
I've never read either of those
but I often think somebody should start a b3ta book group.
Perhaps it will be me, should I have a fit of activity.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:16, archived)
Oooh, now that is a good idea!

(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:18, archived)

done!

(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:24, archived)
well Red Victory is about the Russian Civil War
it's fairly interesting.

Jonathon Strange I have been struggling to read for about 6 months. So I'm officially giving up. It's beaten me.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:19, archived)
Good luck with the next one
books should always be a pleasure, never a chore.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:21, archived)
That is true,
but there are plenty of dry academic books I have had to trawl through that were no fun at all!
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:23, archived)
mmm well I still have a bunch from my birthday in feb
that I've yet to read. So will read them when I get my wisdom teeth out.

fancy joining in?
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:29, archived)
Errr, yeah, go on then
how's it going to work?
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:31, archived)
I've mailed the newsletter
will take suggestions as to reading material, or just take dictatorial action, and then get an MSN group set up or something.
I don't know, I've just done this on a drunken whim. I'll sort the details out as I go along. People seem to like the idea, though.
Good to have you on board.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:43, archived)
you've read it?
I got three quarters of the way through every time and just went ehhhhhhhhhhhh.
(, Mon 25 May 2009, 9:32, archived)
It's not as good as say, Moby Dick
but it's an enjoyable read, a little long, could do with some better editing, but still interesting.
